Make your way to the official tourism office in central Lausanne to meet your guide and group. Board a comfortable coach for the scenic 1.5-hour ride up to the charming town of Chamonix.
Stroll through the town's lovely streets and learn about the culture and history of the area from you informative guide. Board the cable car to ascend into the mountains, eventually reaching the Aiguille du Midi at 12,605 feet (3,842 meters). From this vantage point, see the majestic Mont Blanc and look out for mountaineers bravely trying to conquer the mountain with ropes, ice axes and crampons. Explore Aiguille du Midi's 4 sites, including the Piton Nord, the Piton Central, the Mont Blanc terrace and the Vallée Blanche (winter) or Helbronner, Italy (summer).
After lunch, board the Montvers train to reach La Mer de Glace. Be sure to snap some photos of this little red alpine train, which has been taking people up to the glacier since 1908. La Mer de Glace is France's largest glacier at 4.3 miles (7 km) long. From the train's stopping point, enjoy panoramic views of the French, Italian and Swiss alps. Listen to your guide's informative talk about nature and life in the Alps.
Return to Chamonix and board your comfortable coach for the ride back to Lausanne.
