Make your way to a centrally-located meeting point in Franklin, where you’ll meet a guide and learn the basics of driving a Segway. Practice making turns, accelerating, and stopping your Segway, then follow your guide through the streets of Franklin.
See the Franklin battlefield, where Union and Confederate troops clashed in November, 1864, and learn how the fighting turned into one of the Confederate Army’s most devastating losses, with more than 6,000 fallen soldiers on the Confederate side alone. Continue to West Main Street and Fair Street, where shops and cafes retain a small-town, Tennessee charm. There are traces of Civil War history throughout downtown, from battle-scarred houses to the homes where local families took shelter during the fighting.
Ride a trail beside the Harpeth River, winding between the water and trees, then make your way back to Columbia Avenue, where this tour concludes.
