During the late 19th century, Paris’ Montmartre district was the heart of a vibrant artistic scene and a popular gathering spot for many of the Belle Époque’s most brilliant artists and writers. Choose from a midmorning or early afternoon departure, and meet your knowledgeable guide near this legendary district.
Set off through Montmartre’s charming historic streets while your guide shares anecdotes and facts about the area’s famous former residents. Stroll through the picturesque Place du Tertre and wind up the cobblestone lanes of Montmartre’s North Slope to see the house where Vincent van Gogh once lived and worked.
Pass by the Montmartre Vineyards, one of the last remaining vineyards within Paris, and visit the cemetery where luminaries including Edgar Degas, Emile Zola and Jacques Offenbach are buried. Stop in front of the storied Bateaux-Lavoir apartment building, whose lengthy list of famous former tenants includes Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani and Gertrude Stein. You’ll also see favorite bohemian haunts like the Moulin Rouge and Lapin Agile nightclubs, immortalized in paintings by Picasso and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
Your 2-hour walking tour concludes at the steps of the hilltop Sacré Coeur Basilica, where you can take in spectacular city views before bidding farewell to your guide.

Most excellent tour of various sites in Montmartre. Wish it were 3 hours instead of 2. Does involve a lot of hill climbing. Suggest reversing the tour direction to start at the top (Sacre Coeur) and walk downhill. T.here were 2 assistant staff whose chatter was disruptive to listening to the guide

Enjoyed the walking tour with Sonja. She is very knowledgeable about the area and was enjoyable to listen to. Wish we could have gone closer to a few of the highlights. We stopped short of them by a block and they were discussed from a corner. Not sure why we didn't go closer.

I was very impressed with the tour guide. Great background and knowledge of the area. Needed a mike, hard to hear sometimes with the traffic noise.

My son's and I loved this trip! Sorry that I don't remember our guides name because she was wonderful. She was very informative, personable and funny. She kept everyone interested. Montmartre and Sacre Coeur were definitely worth seeing. I would suggest this trip to others.

We really enjoyed this relaxing and interesting tour. The pace was perfect for taking in the various stops and taking pictures when desired. Our follow-up questions were welcome, and Sonya was extremely knowledgeable about the entire area, its history, and its connections to the people and culture. Loved it!

We could hardly hear the guide and some of the highlighted stops were interesting while others were note. I thought stops where artists had lived were interesting but I did not enjoy the stop at the cemetary. By the time I got to the top, I decided to skip the Sacree Couer Church which I had been especially interested in seeing.

Great tour taking the long way up the hill to Sacre Coeur! Learned a lot about the area and its residents along the way.
