Pass By: Centre Pompidou, Place Georges Pompidou, 75004 Paris France

Discover the enigmatic charms of France’s capital on this guided Paris tour that pairs secret local hangouts with delicious food and wine. You'll start your Paris tour in front of the Centre Pompidou, Europe's largest modern art museum, nestled in an impressive contemporary building and then move on to the Hôtel de Ville, the city’s town hall, on the square where public executions were once carried out. Learn about the horrible death of Robert-François Damiens, the infamous man who tried to assassinate King Louis XV.
We’ll then move on to the little tangled streets of the Marais to spot beautiful medieval churches, corbelled houses, and narrow lanes. We’ll also pass by an iconic bakery whose baguette was elected one of the best in Paris and we’ll try our first pastry, a delicious meringue known as a ‘merveilleux.’
Next, visit Rue Saint-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie, part of the French gay scene. You’ll learn how this part of city, once sordid, became synonymous with trendy Paris, and a shopping hub for fashionistas and the core of “bobo” culture. While you’re here, stop and sample a delicious macaron from one of Paris’ most famous pastry chefs.
Just a street away is Rue des Rosiers, the heart of the Jewish community. It’s a vibrant pedestrian street full of falafel stands and delicious Jewish-influenced delis. We’ll enter a fabulous chocolate store to taste a butter-filled pastry, called Kouign Amann, a specialty from Brittany.
Our Paris tour will then take us back to the South Marais, where stands the longest remaining piece of the 12th-century defensive wall of Paris. After a walk through impressive Saint-Paul’s church, we’ll stop in at a local wine bar, where we’ll get a professional wine tasting. We’ll sample some iconic French liqueurs like Cognac andArmagnac or “Old Plum” brandy. To accompany our drinks, we’ll also taste some delicious French cheese or charcuterie treats.
Continue to Paris’ oldest and certainly most beautiful square, la Place des Vosges, home of France’s national writer, Victor Hugo. From there, it’s only a short walk to your final destination, la place de la Bastille, the former prison that was captured on July 14, 1789, triggering the French Revolution. The area nearby is full of bars and restaurants, leaving you with plenty of options for carrying on with your evening in the City of Lights.

Doina our guide was funny, friendly and regaled us with interesting Parisien history and great food! I would recommend this tour to anyone who had only a limited time in Paris. Unfortunately it was one of the hottest summer afternoons!

We did the guided tour along with our guide Paul. He was very knowledgeable and sweet. It was a small group tour of just 3 people so each one of us got enough attention. We were taken to Aux Merveilleux, Pierre Herme, and Maison George's for some amazing french Pastries. Wish we could taste more than 1 piece each.

Excellent tour of Le Marais. Outstanding tour guide makes all the difference. Lots and lots of walking , so wear comfortable shoes. Our guide, Gil, took us to all top notch stores for samples of pastries, candy, cheese and we ended at a bistro for snacks and wine.
You Should Take This Tour!

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! We were a small group - just the two of us - and Arthur treated us like old friends. He gave us lots of insights and background of the Marais district. The pastries, wine and cheese were really delicious!

This was an excellent tour. The guide was excellent, fun, and really kind. We were able to taste a number of delicious pastries and find some really cool shops. Afterwards we had a lovely and relaxing wine tasting. I love desserts, but sitting around with the group having wine was the perfect ending to the tour. The hosts were very kind and offered us wine and a nice meat and cheese trays. Would do this again!

I definitely recommend this tour! Although it rained and snowed on the day of our tour, it was still a lot of fun. All the people in our group got along, stayed positive and pushed through (despite of the cold)! Ellen was fantastic also! She was very personable and brought great energy to the group

Our guide, Arthur, was so fun and interacted with everyone really well. He guided us around the narrow streets, stopping for all of the planned treats and a few extras if someone wanted to make a purchase. I don't know if the other tours include aux Merveilleux and Pierre Herme, but they are worth choosing this tour over any other similar one. The pastries and macarons are amazing, but the history and tour of the Marais are just as enjoyable. We ended in a little cheese and wine shop that looked like they made the shop by roofing over a small gap between buildings. The wine was excellent and generous, as you'd expect in Paris!
