At the training facility of the French Republican Guard, you’ll observe the training of the guard’s horses while your guide is on hand to answer any questions you may have. What specific training you see depends on the day of your visit. Perhaps you’ll catch practice for the cavalry band, which plays at sporting and political events, as well as events honoring fallen soldiers. Maybe you’ll see the backstage exercises of the horsemen, or you might be there for training of what the guard calls ‘la reprise des douze,’ a special guard team that performs dressage; this gives you a chance to learn about the principles of French riding.
