It was a superb tour. Definitely the care , attention and passion of our tour guide Sim (Pemu)made this an Exceptional experience. She wove in personal, historical & cultural storytelling throughout the day , so that we learned so much about the origins of each restaurant, family history & the secret recipes pasted down through generations. This combined with the DELICIOUSNESS of the food, made for an unforgettable day & wonderful experience. Another not worthy attribute of Sim's was that she made us feel like friends and not tourists! Our tour guide Nam was excellent- very surprising visits to market stalls, old town, cuisine from Thailand, Malaysia, China, Burma etc. visits to pastry shops and supporting local traders. We did not have to eat anything that we don’t want to and all the food we ate was very tasty. Could not have asked for anything more. Now have a whole different outlook to local food traders and now know how to pick the good traders. Well done Nam and achefstour and Viator for providing a very good tour. Such a great tour! Pema was an amazing guide and took me to so many cool spots and got to eat so many delicious Thai and baba foods. Pema was super sweet, knowledgeable and knew so many of the locals and vendors personally! I really feel like I got to experience a ton of local flavors and authentic eats. Would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to taste (more than a taste!) Thai dishes and immerse yourself into the local, Phuketian food scene. Awesome experience!

Pema was our guide for our food tour and she was THE BEST! I had a previous food tour earlier in the week and was disappointed with it. I scheduled this as a redo hoping it would be better and she did not disappoint. She had great personal relationships with the places she took us. The food was great and she did a wonderful job explaining the history and culture of the food and the Thai people. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was so full during and afterwards. Bring your appetite because she definitely feeds you well :-) THANK YOU PEMA for your hospitality!

This was an absolutely amazing tour. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. We were taken round the market and tried many of the local herbs and spices and then went to several restaurants where were could see the ingredients in action. Highly highly recommended trip but don't eat breakfast beforehand!

Our tour guide Pema was exceptional, she was so kind, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about everything. The tour was so well organised and Pema did not allow a thunderstorm to get in the way of this amazing experience. We were given such a great range of dishes, and were able to sample foods we'd never seen or heard of before, as well as some traditional dishes. But the stand out element of this tour is it's guide, Pema went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Her English is perfect and she was such a kind and generous person. She even went out of her way to help us find our desired souvenirs at the end of the tour and helped us arrange a taxi back to our hotel. We were even given a bag of treats that we'd sampled to take home with us. This was also a perfect opportunity to meet other tourists staying in Phuket. Thanks for a memorable day Pema!

I can only recommend this trip. Our guide was so kind and authentic, she has a vast knowledge of Thai culture and food and also told us personal stories, making it even more personal. we tried a looot of dishes at real restaurants, no tourist traps. We were only a 5 person group so it was kinda intimate. Tried this trip if you are in Phuket! You won't regret it.

Prema, the guide spoke good English, was very knowledgeable, friendly and provided us with a fantastic time. She also provided us with recommendations of places to visit while we were in Phuket. She knows all the proprietors of the business we visited really well. We tasted many different type of foods and went into different local eateries which we would never have able to find or go into. A word of caution - you will enjoy this tour if you come with an empty stomach (light breakfast only), an open mind and willingness to try different local cuisine.

A remarkable tour!

Pema’s knowledge of the different types of food and cultures are obvious. We tasted many dishes so definitely come with an empty stomach and be prepared to skip dinner!! But what made this tour special was her connection to the people along the way. Shopkeepers and vendors said hello even when we didn’t go inside or stop. They all knew her. She grew up in the neighborhood and knew their stories. It made it a remarkable tour!

I cannot begin to say how brilliant this tour was. The guide was hugely knowledgeable and great fun. A hugely generous host. We toured the market, sampled an enormous amount of food, saw temples, local life, etc. It was absolutely brilliant and one of the most memorable tours we have ever enjoyed. You MUST do this tour!

Amazing amazing amazing! Pema was our guide and walked the streets of Phuket Old Town and her years of growing up in ever changing Phuket. We ate countless dishes, in many different locations. We went past temples and tastee everything from soups to desserts, fast food to heavy meals. It was absolutely magical and we loved every moment. Extremely value for money and an exceptional day out.
