Meet a local guide by the Porto Cathedral for a 10:30am departure, then set out on foot to explore the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll see colorful buildings lined up alongside Baroque mansions and medieval churches, and learn about the port wine cellars that are hidden beneath the city streets.
As you walk, the historian guide will share some of the city’s rich past, from the ancient Romans to the Middle Ages, medieval period, and the Moors. Stroll along the edge of the defensive walls built in the 14th century, where you’ll have gorgeous views over Porto. Follow the footsteps of the medieval knights who once lived in the city, and hear the legends of the Fernandina Wall.
You’ll also head to the riverside neighborhood of Ribeira, where this walking tour concludes near the Doura River, close to some of the city’s most appealing cafes and sights.
