Private tour ensures personalized attention and a customized itinerary
Following pickup from your centrally located Reykjavik hotel, board a comfortable 4x4 tour vehicle, specially equipped to handle the rugged Icelandic terrain. Head to your first stop in the Golden Circle, listening to a short orientation on the way. Your private tour ensures personalized attention and a flexible itinerary, so let your guide know if there's anything you'd like to see in particular.
Arrive at Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, where the oldest democratic parliament took place over a millennium ago. Picture what Viking life was like as your tour guide fills in the details of their culture and history. Many crucial historical events in Icelandic history took place at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the rift between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, widening slowly, in one part of the park.
Continue to Gullfoss waterfall, known as the queen of all Icelandic waterfalls, which tumbles from a dramatic height into a deep gorge. After exploring the falls from every angle, stop in the Gullfoss Café for a coffee break.
Then it's on to Geysir, an active geothermal area where you'll view bright blue sulfur-loving algae, steam vents, hot springs and gushing geysers. The Strokkur geyser erupts roughly every 5 minutes, so keep your camera at the ready to document the action.
Your next waterfall stop is at Faxi for a few photos, then head on to Fridheimar, an organic greenhouse cultivation center that grows produce with the aid of geothermal power.
The day's final stop is the 3,000-year-old Kerid; you can opt to walk into the crater for a minimal additional fee.
End your tour with drop-off back at your Reykjavik hotel.

Always take you information with you...

Always take you information with you!!! Not only your voucher but also the information from the Viator website! Our driver drove us around the places of the Golden Circle and wanted to get back. It was only after I had shown him my itinerary and after he had spoken to his boss that we were taken to the glacier. I did not like this attitude. The places we visited were great but I booked a 4X4 jeep especially to see the glacier. These problems should be avoided and Viator should clearly inform the local organiser.
