Whale of a day

We went out not expecting to see much. However the crew did everything they could to get everyone a chance to see a whale and we all did. They communicated well and even offered free sea sickness pills. They were on time and communicated well. I would recommend this adventure.

I was looking forward to seeing marine life I have not seen before. Apparently there was a whale, but I found only one passenger who saw it. It seems it was seen and move on, we have fulfilled the sighting. Once one was spotted there was no great desire to see another one for the majority who didn't see it. We spent loads of time watching Dolphins. There is an interesting area when you get off the boat to learn about the marine life around Iceland. Perhaps I was expecting too much!
Enthusiastic and mindful crew and guide.

We based our decision to use Elgin based upon TripAdvisor reviews and ecological focus of the company. Even though it was a chilly 45 degrees Fahrenheit in July and we all downed insulated full storm suits, we stayed on the top deck for the whole journey. It was amazing. We saw two individual Humpbacks and likely several Minkes as well as dozens of puffins, lesser gulls, and even an artic skirt

The logistical arrangements, the guides, staff, boats, buses and facilities were all excellent. Unfortunately though we didn't get to see any whales which was a shame. However, because of this we were given a voucher to book on a trip again in the next two years if we were to visit Iceland again which is a nice touch.

Whale watching might be great in summer but it is not definitely a winter activity. It was super cold and we did not see any whales. We did see some dolphins and the crew really tried hard to make it interesting but don't think it is worth the trouble in winter, unless you somehow end up being the lucky one.

We had a great time out on the water. The boat was large enough to accommodate all who were on board. You need to dress warmer than you think. Outfits were made available to go over your best cold weather clothing . While standing on the bow of the boat, which is the best place to see the marine life, you get wet and very cold, very quickly. The PA system on the boat needs improvement but what we heard was very interesting. We never got to see whales but we got see other aquatic life in abundance. The trip was extended due to no early whale sightings so they tried very hard to give us something special. There was a bar on board but you done feel like drinking due to being out on rough water. Worth the cost over all.

Well organised and they tried their best to find us some whales but on this day we were unlucky. However they do give you a voucher for another trip which is good.
