Taste the mouthwatering flavors of Chinese cooking during this 2-hour private session to prepare three classic dishes with an expert instructor. Food lovers and novices alike are sure to enjoy this chance to use fresh local ingredients to prepare rustic traditional Chinese dishes (and get to eat them for lunch).
Start your session at either 10am or 2pm (depending on if you select the morning or afternoon option) at the cooking studio located on Shanghai’s Dongping Road. When you arrive at the studio you’ll meet the professional chef who will assist you with preparation of three dishes, including kung pao chicken, Shanghai stir-fried noodles and sweet and sour pork.
Observe your instructor as he demonstrates proper technique to use your Chinese wok for stir frying, combining fresh ingredients to create dishes covering a variety of origins, including restaurant favorites, home-style recipes and specialty dishes. You’ll also learn about the Chinese cooking philosophy, which emphasizes the importance of balance and yin and yang in the dishes’ use of seasonings like sesame oil, soy sauce and rice vinegar. Continue with hands-on practice, following the instructor’s step-by-step details in a fun, laid-back environment.
When you finish your creation, enjoy the fruits of your labor over lunch, gaining new insight into Chinese food culture and customs as you share your food with your companions.
