The tea ceremony was a great experience. It was a first time for me and having Miki Wei as my host and master of the tea ceremony is likely as good as it gets. Miki opened up a new world for me and I understood that tea is as complex as wine when it comes to flavors, aroma, origin and process. That you can steep more than 10 pots of tea from the same leaves was a pleasant surprise it will save me a lot of money in the future . We tried different types of both green and black teas. I think the dragon well tea from Hangzhou was my favorite. After the tea ceremony we took a guided walk on the Bund, Miki explained not only the sights but also the history behind the buildings and how Shanghai became the city it is today, by Chinese standards it is extremely young and it was interesting to get the background. I have to say that Miki is an excellent guide and person. You feel more in the company of a long-time friend than a guide. After our tour I got a beautiful book with my name in Chinese. Dont miss this tour , it worth every cent .

Miki met me right on time at 9:30 A.M. in the lobby of the Peace Hotel. She collected two other clients there, then took us walking along the Bund. Miki is a library on all matters relating to the history and architecture of the Bund.
The two-hour tea ceremony class took place near the Bund in a charming teahouse. I was surprised and impressed to find that Miki herself, rather than the teahouse staff, would be our teacher. I enjoyed Mikis passion for Oolong and green tea, and we received precise instructions on how to brew them properly ourselves. I knew nothing about oolong before but now I truly appreciate it. I also discovered the way I had been making green tea at home was totally wrong. I had always found green tea quite bitter and not at all green in color. Now I know the true art of how to make it.
I totally recommend this tour for anyone with even just a small interest in tea. Mikis graceful tea ceremony made me enjoy tea even more, plus there was none of the tourist trap nonsense where you are pressured into buying overpriced goods. Thank you, Miki, I will see you again.
