Very pleasant journey hosted by James, very save driver :) And keeping the group engaged. I'm looking back on the trip with a smile on my face as well the stunning views you have during the journey incl. the Sokoya trees at the end, Don't miss them! Thanks James, your friend Robbert from Holland.
This tour was fantastic! I was the only person booked on the day I went, but Richard took great care of me. He chauffeured me around all the hairpin turns in a comfortable suburban while I relaxed and enjoyed the views.
He provided lots of information about the history of the park, as well as the plants and animals in the park. We saw Glacier Point, Half Dome, Bridal Veil Falls, etc. We also had a neat picnic lunch at Yosemite Falls which included a huge sandwich, chips, cookie, banana, and water. At El Capitan, he brought out his binoculars to point out the rock climbers to me. He made regular stops at the good restrooms which was appreciated. We also stopped at Fern Springs where he provided me with a plastic water bottle that I filled with the coldest fresh water to drink.
The leaves are starting to turn and I got some great pictures. Overall, it was a fantastic day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip on Saturday. The outstanding guide, Katie, anticipated the needs of each one in my group of 3. Katie was very knowledgeable and personable and made every stop a chance to learn a new bit of information. We were given a chance to exit the comfortable SUV at every stop for picture taking or just to stretch. Because of Katie's experience I learned about plants and animals that call the park home, plus the fact that rock climbing began at Yosemite. Who knew? I especially enjoyed viewing active climbers through binoculars provided by Katie. Even with the detours - necessitated by roadworks - Katie kept the group on schedule while ensuring we saw all planned stops of the tour. The only negative comment is that the included hearty bag lunch sandwich bread could've been fresher. If you have only one day for seeing Yosemite take this great tour.
This was one of those rare trips where everything went perfect. My wife and I wavered, about driving into the National Park ourselves, or taking a tour. We are so glad that we chose the later, our guide was very well informed, but amusing and very helpful. The food was excellent that the tour provided for us, and we kept well hydrated. Everyone got along extremely well, and our guide was there the entire time helping, informing, and taking care of us. We learned so much more, had more fun, and did not have to worry about anything, the entire day. Kudos to all...many thanks!
First, the good things:
1. Our driver/tour guide was great! She shared all the history and the stories of every scenic vista, she knew exactly where to go. She picked us up right on time 6:45am and dropped us off right on time too.
2. The lunch was good and exactly what we ordered.
3. The other passengers were interesting and good conversation was had all around.
The only thing I'd improve is the vehicle/seating situation. Our driver picked us up in a large SUV a Yukon or Suburban, I think that seats 8. And, just as a 4-person tent doesn't really work for 4 people, an 8-seat vehicle is really, really tight for 8 people on a 9-hour tour. My kids and I sat in the third row, which is fairly debilitating after several hours. Also, one really cannot see anything back there. Like, really, nothing. The window coverage is minimal back there. The driver kept pointing out interesting things on the left you'll see this erratic rock ... and we never saw any of it. Yes, we did switch seats a few times, but that was just too many people in that vehicle for a sightseeing trip. I'd gently suggest either fewer people in that ride, or use something like a 12-passenger or 15-passenger van with bench seats and more window coverage.
Small group just 5 of us with our own personal driver Mary in an SUV which personalized the day the lunch was tasty .definately the way to see the park I wouldn't do it any other way .didnt have to worry about parking or driving or finding my way around Mary did it all
