Mosjøen via ferrata and Zipline

Mosjøen via ferrata and Zipline

star-4
Join us on an exhilarating mountain adventure on the world’s northernmost via ferrata. Via ferrata means “iron path”. This mountain-climbing adventure doesn’t require any specialised knowledge or prior experience. The route is classified as B/C, easy to moderately difficult, making it a fun and exciting way to climb a mountain that is within most people’s reach. The first part of our journey climbs the newly-built Sherpa Path, up the narrow Trongskaret pass. We connect your harness to the first stretch of cable. After a while, we reach a viewpoint where we unpack our lunch and savour the incredible panorama of Mosjøen and its environs. The second stretch of the via ferrata takes us to the summit, 660 metres. Our descent follows a regular hiking trail down to the rock stairs called Helgelandstrappa, and to the starting point of the zipline. Your flight down the 700 metre long zipline takes you across the river and lands you safely in the gardens of Fru Haugans Hotel.

Hamaroyskaftet, Guided Climb in Northern Norway

Hamaroyskaftet, Guided Climb in Northern Norway

star-5
Hamarøyskaftet is one of the most characteristic mountains in Northern Norway. It’s less well known than Stetind and the summit is just 613 metres above sea level. Some alpine climbing is needed to reach the summit. Join us on a guided climb, and be surprised by how much fun this trip is! Hamarøyskaftet is not a very difficult climb, but you will still need ropes and guiding to reach the top. You must be comfortable with some airy climbing. Between the alpine sections, you will find large ledges to rest on while you enjoy the amazing views. When you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with views of the Vestfjord and Lofotveggen (The Lofoten Wall) – the line of mountains on the nearby Lofoten Islands. No rush. We allow plenty of time on this excursion, so we don’t have to rush.

Flight to the Svartisen glacier

Flight to the Svartisen glacier

star-5
This route goes south out of Bodø along the coast over some of the finest beaches in the country. Through deep and narrow fjords, passing jagged peaks close by. At the southernmost point of the route we will see the view of the spectacular Engenbreen Ice Fall slide out from Svartisen and down almost into the fjord. From there the tour goes over the Svartisen glacier itself northbound to the highlight of this tour: A close look at the glacier ice fall as we fly past the glacier edge along the lake Storglomvatnet. Return to Bodø via Beiarn, with streams, valleys and mountain ranges, before we pass through Børvasstindan and the Åseli valley, the signature mountain range to the south of Bodø. Saltstraumen, the worlds strongest tidal current is also along the route back to Bodø.

Mjelle Beach - Easy Coastal Day Hike to Bodos no 1 Beach, Northern Norway

Mjelle Beach - Easy Coastal Day Hike to Bodos no 1 Beach, Northern Norway

star-5
Mjelle Beach is one of many beaches close to Bodø and a great place for a day trip from this beautiful town. White sandy beaches may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Arctic Norway? The fact is that some of the most stunning beaches in Norway is found up north.  Walk on gemstones? Mjelle Beach is listed on TripAdvisor as one of the most popular things to do while visiting Bodø. A day trip to Mjelle is popular among locals and a great place for a quick getaway from Bodø. The sand of this secluded beach is both white and red. The red sand takes its colour from gemstone particles (garnet minerals). Ideal for children: Getting to the Mjelle Beach is an easy stroll even for young ones, as it’s only a 30-minute walk from the car park. For young children, the beach is a giant sandpit with free rocks and shells.
