On the outskirts of Chandigarh, Thunder Zone amusement and water park features a mix of carnival-style rides and water park attractions spread across 11 acres (4.45 hectares). Highlights include small roller coasters, bumper cars, and a mix of waterslides and pools, plus a smattering of special attractions for toddlers. The Basics
While most of the rides here are more mildly entertaining than actually thrilling, the water attractions range from amusing to exhilarating, with a kiddy pool for little guests, a wave pool for those with a bit more height, and a slide pool with four different types of slides, all around 30 feet (9 meters) high. Visitors can book separate tickets to the water park and amusement park or buy combo passes for both at a discount.Things to Know Before You Go
How to Get There
- Thunder Zone is a must-visit for families with kids, particularly on hot days.
- Parents who don’t want to go on rides or in the water can buy discounted entry passes.
- Children below 3 feet (91 centimeters) tall get free admission.
Thunder Zone is located in the Punjabi town of Mohali, due west of Chandigarh. It's about a half-hour drive from the Chandigarh Railway Station. The nearest bus stop is about a 25-minute walk away, not too pleasant in the heat, so it's easiest to visit by taxi or as part of a customizable, full-day Chandigarh tour.
When to Get There
Thunder Zone is open daily from midmorning until evening in the summer months (from April through October), with reduced hours in winter (November through March). It's at its busiest on weekends, particularly Sundays, and during local school holidays, and least busy on weekday mornings when school is in session.
Chandigarh for Families
While Thunder Zone is a great place for visitors with kids, especially on hot summer days, there’s plenty more to do in Chandigarh to keep little ones entertained. Visitors of all ages will love the celebrated Rock Garden of Chandigarh, with its whimsical structures and sculptures made from repurposed junk by artist Nek Chand Saini. Sukhna Lake, a large reservoir with paddleboats for rent, is also worth a visit.
