To climb Mount Kilimanjaro on the Machame route means to share the mountain with many other trekkers.Ever since the budget operators discovered Machame the traffic on the route has been growing. It soon overtook the Marangu route as the most heavily trafficked climb route on Mount Kilimanjaro. The Machame route is a very scenic route, but not the only one. Both the Shira route and the Lemosho route share the same path as the Machame route after the first day or two. But they are less trafficked and ideally longer, so they are more expensive. It would be more correct to say Machame is the most scenic Kilimanjaro route that you can climb with a budget operator. Some people are terribly worried about climbing the Barranco Wall. Don't worry. It's not a cliff face and it's not a climb. It's mostly a very steep path that requires you to use your hands every now and then and to scramble a bit in a couple of places.
Enjoy game drives to look for a large variety of animals (Big Five) & birds in the Crater Highlands and Lake Manyara Biosphere Reserve. Sights of wildebeests, zebras, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, hippos, giraffes, lions etc. in their natural habitats awaits you!

Sometimes called the Whisky Route, one of the popular ones on Kilimanjaro but in the same time consider to be difficult route. This is a popular route up steep paths through magnificent forests to gain a ridge leading through the moorland zones to the Shira Plateau, It then traverses beneath the glaciated precipices of the Southern Icefields to join the Barafu Route to the summit. Accommodation on the mountain is in tents which the porters will pitch for you. You will need a sleeping bag, warm clothes and walking poles. This is a steep, tough trek within the limits of a fit individual used to walking in mountain areas.
Tarangire National Park is popular for having the largest number of elephants per square foot as well as baobab trees. With its beautiful scenery proximity this park is usually assigned with the northern circuit itinerary along with other national parks like Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. The elephants fill this park like cattle while the lions roam the grassland plains looking for their prey. Due to water scarcity most animals in the summer would be found along the riverbed digging for water. It is close to Arusha town making ideal for a day visit.

Until the Northern Circuit opened recently, the Lemosho Route was widely considered to be the overall best route to climb Kilimanjaro. It combines all the best feature of the Machame route in terms of success rate but, by starting further round to the West, it takes you up and over the spectacular Shira Plateau, while at the same time avoids the crowds on the early part of the Machame route. Over 8 days, you have a fantastic journey and a great chance of summiting successfully.
