The Basics

The Frida Kahlo Museum is one of Mexico City’s most visited attractions and prebooking your admission tickets can potentially save hours of waiting in line, especially during peak times (weekends and holidays). Visitors can explore independently or on a guided tour, visit as part of a Mexico City tour, or combine a visit with other top attractions, such as the Xochimilco canals or the National University of Mexico.

After exploring the Casa Azul, it’s just a short walk to the former home of Kahlo's husband, artist Diego Rivera, now the Diego Rivera Mural Museum (Museo Diego Rivera), or that of her lover, communist revolutionary Leon Trotsky, now the Leon Trotsky House Museum (Museo Casa de Leon Trotsky).

Manuel was a great tour...
Manuel was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable. The stop to the National University of Mexico was a plus, becuase I did want to see the Puma stadium, even though we didn’t go inside, it was still a plus. I would if loved to spend a bit more exploring Coyoacan, but the time we did have, I was i was able to explore the main part of the area where there were restaurants and shops. It was a great tour.

Frida Kahlo Museum - Tour
We had such an amazing tour with Jorge! This was my second time visiting the museum but I feel like I learned so much more having a guide which made it a lot more fulfilling. It was my friends first time and she was very happy overall with the whole experience. Thank you!

Xochimilco, Coyoacán and Frida Kahlo Museum Tour
Kevin was a terrific guide--he was knowledgeable, friendly, and he moved quickly and easily between English and Spanish without waiting for long periods to let each group know what was going on. The bus was comfortable and the pacing was good (mixing history and moving around with a lovely boat ride, drinks, and good food, then wonderful art and also good snacks). A great tour.

The bike trip to Coyocan was terrific. The guides made it the best - they were both warm and wonderful, knowledgeable and informative and lots of fun. Most importantly they took good care of us and made us feel very safe. If we had time, we would have signed up for more tours with them.

Excellent Combo tour! It covered a lot of historical and interesting places. Our English guides (Emmanuel and Edita) were both professionals and knowledgeable and respectful too! Our group are all seniors (very slow!) but they were very patient and caring in a way. Thank you for the wonderful experience we had in Mexico guys!

Highlights of the Frida Kahlo Museum

Casa Azul, with the rooms and gardens still in much the same state as Kahlo left them, offers insight into many facets of her life. Admire her Mexican folk art collection, see the bedroom where Leon Trotsky stayed during his exile in Mexico, and view some of her lesser-known artworks and rare self-portraits. A large collection of personal items, including the prosthetic leg she wore in the months before her death, is also on display.
