Gorky Park (Park Gorkogo) Tours

Gorky Park (Park Gorkogo)
Once a Soviet-era amusement park, Gorky Park (Park Gorkogo) has reinvented itself in recent years as one of Moscow’s most popular public green spaces. More than 300 acres (120 hectares) of parkland stretch along the Moskva River, featuring walking trails, botanical gardens, and recreational areas.

The Basics
Local families flock to Moscow’s largest park on weekends to walk, cycle, and picnic amid the gardens and woodlands. Admire riverfront views as you stroll the trails; visit the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art or the sculptures in the Muzeon Park of Arts; or join friends for a game of tennis, volleyball, or pétanque. You’ll also find a boating lake, riverside beaches lined with cafés and lounge chairs, and a small amusement park for young kids.

Go on your own, or explore Gorky Park and other top Moscow attractions on a sightseeing tour.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Gorky Park is free and often hosts free events, activities, and sports classes.
  • The riverfront has plenty of seating, with free Wi-Fi and charging points available.
  • The park has several on-site cafés, restaurants, and food kiosks, most of which are situated along the river.
  • The park is fully accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.

How to Get There
Gorky Park is located in Moscow’s Yakimanka district, around 4 miles (7 kilometers) south of downtown. The main park entrance is along the Garden Ring (Sadovoye Koltso) road. The closest metro stations are Oktyabrskaya (line 5), about a 2-minute walk away, and Park Kultury (Circle line) on the other side of the Moskva River, around a 10-minute walk away.

When to Get There
The park is open 24/7, and there’s something going on year-round. Visit in summer to enjoy a film screening at the open-air cinema or take part in an alfresco yoga or aerobics class. In winter, dress warmly and head to the gigantic outdoor ice rink.

Moscow’s Parks and Gardens
Gorky Park is just one of many picturesque parks and gardens in Moscow. Escape the city crowds to go hiking, mountain biking, or cross-country skiing in Troparevsky Forest Park—or wander the magnificent gardens of the Tsaritsyno Palace, a former residence of Catherine the Great. Alternatively, tour the museums and monuments in the vast Victory Park, then pack a picnic and watch wildlife in Sokolniki Park.
Address: 9, Krymskiy Val, Moscow 117049, Russia

Gorky Park and River Cruise

Gorky Park and River Cruise

star-5
Meet your tour guide at the lobby of your hotel or at any designated place in Moscow city center. Travel by metro to Gorky Park, accompanied by your guide, and, once you are there, start exploring the most famous park in Russia - Gorky Park. It gained its fame thanks to the immortal song “Wind of Change” by Scorpions and a novel “Gorky Park", both big hits in 1980s-1990s. Gorky Park still keeps its secrets from the Soviet times. We will embark on a 2,5-hour river cruise with scenic views of Moscow from the pier nearby. Do not forget your camera - you will enjoy those iconic views through panoramic windows. A local tour guide will explain you about all the sights on the way and will share some stories from the Soviet past. The cruise has a high-praised restaurant on board, so you can enjoy a full lunch or dinner or have a coffee with a dessert at your own expense in a comfortable atmosphere of the river cruise.

Exclusive Moscow river mini-cruise with a private guided tour

Exclusive Moscow river mini-cruise with a private guided tour

star-5
The main sights of Moscow are all located along Moscow river. As the city is notorious for its traffic jams and cold nasty climate, our cruise & guided tour presents a unique opportunity to see Kremlin, Christ the Savior Cathedral, Moscow State University, Luzhniki Olympic stadium and many other sights in just a couple of hours being on board of a new comfortable cruise ship. Moscow river cruises are also unique as they are available even in winter time when the river is covered with ice. It is always warm inside, the restaurant is one of the best in Moscow, live music is often on. However, our tour guide will not let you miss any of the great sights you are passing by!.. Even if you do not want to get our to the upper deck, you can take photos from inside through the great panoramic glass windows. Enjoy!
