Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu(Return by Train)
8
Located northwest of Cuzco, Nevado de Salkantay, the cordillera’s tallest peak rises to 6,271 metres above sea level. The name Salkantay means ‘Savage Mountain’ and it is a strikingly beautiful single peak providing a great focal point for this route. The trek normally takes 5 days and is popular with trekkers wanting to combine a quieter, less trodden route with a visit to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu.
One of the reasons the Salkantay trail is so popular is the incredible diversity of the views and ecosystems. Voted among the top 25 best treks in the world the walk is dominated by the 20,500-feet-high Mount Salkantay and cuts through the beautiful Mollepata Valley and passes Salkantay at an altitude above 15,000 feet before traversing around the mountains to arrive at Aguas Calientes. The trek is only a little more difficult than the Inca Trail, and horses are used to carry food and equipment.

Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu 5D-4N
5
It is an easily accessible walk for everyone, without limitations or necessary permits (at least for the moment) next to the city of Mollepata, Cusco with Machu Picchu, Salkantay Trek are ancient treasures and outside the traditional route located in the same area, like the Inca Trail, where you can see large icy mountains covered with snow that combine with the abundant rainforest.
The name of this mountain of Salkantay Trek is a contraction that comes from Salqa which means sullen, wild and Antay that means producing eyebrows or avalanches; This is an alternate route to the usual Inca Trail for those who did not get to get spaces, we have considered this route of Salkantay Trek as one of the best alternatives since in all this journey we can appreciate the flora and fauna and the tranquility that one needs to to be able to reflect and be in touch with the nature that surrounds us.
