"Our guide Mu was lovely and took us 'off the beaten track' We visited 2 waterfalls and then Heavens Gate, but not the touristy part, an area just up from there which was where the locals were. My husband was daring and walked out on a wooden platform over the valley for a photo opportunity! The views were breathtaking throughout the entire day as she then took us on a long trek through rice paddys (sturdy shoes are a must fior this) where we encountered water buffalo along the way. We stopped by a stream, on some big rocks under the shade of a tree where she proceeded to prepare a veritable banquet of ban mi, rice with chicken and vegetables (as I'm GF) along with a variety of fruits, all of which she had carried in her backpack. We then carried on through a small village where local people were going about their daily lives, under the cable cars and finished up near Cat Cat village (which she said was too touristy) What we loved about yhis tour was Mu's knowledge of the crops that were being grown and hiw comfortable she made us feel as we walked through these little villages. This is a definite must do for those that are looking for a rural experience - not for people who are unsteady on their feet or particularly unfit though as it takes its toll on your calf muscles!"

"We had a brilliant time on our 2 day Sapa trip with Ethos. Our Hmong guide was friendly and considerate, and she told us interesting things about the plants we saw and way of life. The hikes took us through beautiful areas that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise during our trip in Sapa (unless we braved a hike by ourselves) so we’d highly recommend. We weren’t sure what to expect from the homestay but it was clean and comfortable staying with our guide and her family, and we were cooked delicious fresh meals both for our evening meal and for the lunches with local families on route. We deliberated about what to pack - but our most appreciated items were wet wipes and suncream! An amazing experience and we wouldn’t hesitate to do it again or recommend. We also really appreciated booking through Ethos as they truly support the local community. As well as this they were very helpful in advising us about our trip and facilitating transfers."

"Fantastic guided walk up the mountain. English speaking guides with a smooth transport process to the national park. Great conversation and company along the way, and an overall excellent hike. Started early and made it up by 1100, views at the top were great with a bit of cloud. I decided to take the cable car down and was given direction on how to do this without any issue."

"A very good timely communication and arrangement well before we arrived Hanoi. The trip was initially scheduled at 2pm (the flight landed 10:30am) thinking that our kids may be too tired to continue the journey right after the flight. Since the kids are very okay after the flight landed, this operator arranged the car immediately after we requested to continue the journey."

The length and difficulty of the hike was just right for our group. We walked through beautiful scenery and interesting farms and villages."
