How to Spend 2 Days in Windhoek
With its far-reaching history, natural surrounds, and lively nightlife, Namibia’s capital is more than just a stopover city. From historical walking tours to wildlife-watching hikes, here are our top tips for two days in Windhoek.
Day 1: Hit the Highlights
**Morning:**Start with a city tour to get the inside scoop on Windhoek in just a few hours. Benefit from the insights of a guide as you tick off historical highlights, such as Christ Church and Tintenpalast, then visit Katutura for a glimpse of life in the urban city.
**Afternoon:**Spend the afternoon exploring the capital’s wealth of galleries and museums . Don’t miss the Independence Museum, National Art Gallery, and the meteorites installation inside Post Street Mall.
**Night:**From partying on Eveline Street to catching live music at the Boiler Room, Windhoek offers plenty to do after dark. Try Joe's Beerhouse for an authentic taste of laid-back Namibia, or opt for dinner at one of the city’s castle restaurants.
Day 2: Beyond the City Limits
**Day:**Dive straight into Windhoek’s nature on a morning hike through Daan Viljoen Game Reserve, or head to the National Botanical Gardens to explore the inner-city green space. Alternatively, you can widen your perspective on a day trip, which typically cover wildlife sanctuaries and traditional villages, and tend to include lunch.
**Night:**Windhoek’s international airport is conveniently close to the city, but even closer to several rural ranches and lodges. Many travelers opt to conclude their visit with a relaxing night spent on one of these guest farms.
