Viator forgot to send my confirmation info to the tour so I was refused passage with my family. I spent money to go to amsterdam only to waste my money and time with viator. This was a disaster. The tour site was nice and wanted to help but they said they were full and did not receive my information so my family and I could not go. I had my confirmation numbers with me but that did not help.
Dinner Boat cruise

Food very decent for cruise. Hard to hear commentaries depending on where you sit. Had booked in advance and unfortunately stuck in middle with aisle seat while others had 3 rows all to themselves. They should limit number of people per section. Other than that, enjoyable cruise and good rythm.
Assault by Cruise Captain
, Jun 2019
Hi It is with great sorrow that I am writing this review. We booked a canal dinner cruise in Amsterdam for 6 people with Viator. We attended the cruise last Monday evening. It was supposed to be between 8 pm and 10 pm. Our group got to the location on time and were sat at the back of the boat, with another table of 6 middle aged Mexican ladies and gentlemen. The rest of the boat was scattered with couples and the odd 3 person group. The cruise started off fine except we could not hear the captain at the front of the boat, due to issues with his PA system, but that was still ok. However, about an hour into the cruise, the captain came to the back of the boat and told our table and the Mexican table, that we were all being too noisy, and we MUST stay quiet. We were shocked by this but still decided to make the best of it. About 15 mins later, the captain stopped the boat, and came to the back again, and began shouting out our table and the Mexican table, that we were all to get off the boat right away, or he was calling the police. It was at this time, I started recording this on my iPhone. I am a former Police Officer myself from the UK, and I was extremely shocked by this behavior. When the captain of the boat saw that I was now recording him, he grabbed my arm and tried to snatch the phone off me. This was all caught on camera. It was at this point that we informed the captain that this was assault, and we insisted that he now call the police. A short time later, a police boat arrived and 5 police cars. It turns out that the captain had informed the police that he had 12 violent youths on board causing trouble. (In our group, there was no one younger than 47 and we are all business executives. On the other table, the Mexican group was up to 65 years in age.) We could clearly see the police laughing outside of the boat when they actually saw the "12 Violent Youths" through the window. Anyway, 2 of the police officers came onto the boat and asked us what had happened. I explained the problem with the captain and showed him the Assault that we captured on video. The officer agreed that it was an assault. This is now going through the legal system with Amsterdam Police.
Fantastic cruise and delicious menu!

My girlfriend and I booked this river cruise to celebrate our second anniversary and after reading mixed reviews were very open minded. We boarded the boat and were pleasantly greeted by English-speaking, incredibly attentive and friendly staff who served us with a glass of prosecco each. The tables were tables of six but seated as four so each couple had some privacy. The staff were fantastic, the captains commentary was friendly but also informative and the food was delicious. Fantastic value for money and the view was spectacular. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to do a dinner cruise and see the city by water at night.
Amazing way to experience Amsterdam.

The trip was amazing right from the start. The drink on arrival was a lovely touch, the staff on the boat were friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious. As it was our wedding anniversary they left us a little card saying congratulations and we got a nice bottle of fizz! The boat was cosy and comfortable and we got to see a lot more of Amsterdam than if we were walking! The icing on the cake was the captain/tour guide. He pointed out and talked about all the sights along the way, enough to be interesting but so you could still enjoy your meal, and he had a wonderful sense of humour! Couldn’t recommend this enough!
Great experience

Food and service was great! It was chilly when we went but overall great time! Unlimited drinks was the best!
Not friendly to kids

Kids menu was not available but the reservation was made with. The cruise was not prepared to kids. Unnaceptable.
Good food
, Dec 2018
The dinner cruise was excellent based solely on the food. Overall the reason I’m giving it a three star is because the was no narrative whatsoever. The person speaking spoke three times and it was in Dutch. So we didn’t understand what was going on, what we were looking at period.
Good, but with reservations.

The food was was excellent and the route was interesting and very beautiful, mostly involving the western canals, passing Ann Frank's house etc. The commentary was 'unique'! Our captain had his own sense of humour and appreciation of what was important to tell us. The ticket includes 'unlimited drinks', but this relies on you trying hard to attract the attention of the waiting on staff to refill your glasses. We had 3 small glasses of red wine each during the 2hr 10 minute trip, and spent some time with empty glasses and waiting on staff nowhere near us. We were disappointed in that to be honest, and felt it would have been more appropriate to leave bottles on the table. Also, be aware that as a couple you will likely be sharing a table with another couple. The tables are designed to seat 6, so space isn't an issue, but you have a 50/50 chance of getting window seats or aisle seats which don't really give a great view of the surroundings. Overall, we enjoyed it! But there is room for improvement.
