Why Travelers Choose This Tour

This cost-effective option combines two half-day tours and covers four places outside Amsterdam in just one day.
Zaanse Schans Windmills, Marken and Volendam Morning Tour: Travel by coach from central Amsterdam and into the Dutch countryside to visit three North Holland villages. En route, learn about the passing sights from your guide.
On arrival at Zaanse Schans, a lovely town on the Zaan River, marvel at a postcard-perfect scene of wooden windmills dating back to the 17th-century. Snap photos of these iconic symbols of traditional Dutch life, then pass by old-time storefronts, including a visit to a local shoemaker that makes classic wooden clogs.
Next, drive to the quaint fishing village of Volendam, where you may see locals who still wear traditional Dutch clothing. Include a visit to a local cheese factory for a demonstration and a sampling of its dairy production.
Take the ferry boat to nearby Marken, another traditional fishing town. Admire its characteristic wooden stilt houses before your morning tour ends. Then continue by coach to each destination on your afternoon tour.
Delft, The Hague, and Madurodam Afternoon Tour: Start your tour with a drive to the picturesque town of Delft. Learn how Holland’s blue-and-white Delft pottery is produced at the Royal Delft, the last remaining earthenware factory from the Golden Age of the 17th century. View a large collection of Delft antiques at the museum and marvel at a likeness of Rembrandt's 'The Night Watch' reproduced with original Delft blue tiles.
Then explore the historic city center independently, meander past landmarks such as the Oostpoort (Eastern Gate), Waag (Weigh House), Oude Kerk (Old Church), and Nieuwe Kerk (New Church).
Back aboard the coach, continue to The Hague, the former capital of the Netherlands and its third-largest city. Pass by Noordeinde Palace and the Houses of Parliament on a coach tour of the seat of the Dutch Parliament. Then make a photo stop at the Peace Palace, which houses the International Court of Justice.
Hear insightful commentary about the significance of these sites before continuing on to Madurodam, a famous miniature park. Marvel at scale models of Holland attractions replicated in minute detail, including Amsterdam’s canal houses, the Alkmaar cheese market, spinning windmills, and the world’s largest miniature railway.
Your Super Saver tour of the Netherlands ends with the return to central Amsterdam in the evening.

Excellent Half Day Trip
, Jul 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed the first half of this tour that took us to the Windmills, Shoe Factory and Cheese store! However, after visiting all of these venues we were too tired to take the extra 5 hours to go to Delft and The Hague. I guess we were over zealous when we booked this trip 6 months ago. We were happy it was actually two tours combined and we were able to re-book other tours for the next day in exchange for the afternoon tour. Thank you Viator!
Full and fun day!

I had very limited time and was happy with the decision I made to do this combo tour. Everything felt fully thought through EXCEPT what to do if there was bad weather. I don’t blame the company for the rain of course but I do think that a little more could have been done to explain that purchasing a poncho was almost mandatory - or included it in the offer. Apart from that I was impressed with the guides and the drivers and the quality of the tour!
Disappointing and not for me
, May 2019
I booked this experience due to limited time in Amsterdam and came away feeling exhausted and disappointed. In hindsight I would have seen more authentic experiences if I organised my own itinerary so I have learnt from this experience. There were too many people on each tour as the company used a double decker bus which could hold a maximum of 89 people. At each venue the time to disembark from the bus was too long, the ‘experiences’ were staged for the tourists and the space to view each experience didn’t cater adequately for the number of people so you either couldn’t see or hear what was happening or you had to stand. On the first tour, the tour leader struggled to manage the large group, having said that time at each stop was fairly tight and you felt like cattle being herded from one thing to the next. The other aspect about the first tour was the intrusion to the way of life for the locals, particularly at Volendam where we had to walk past private houses with many people treating the road as a footpath causing disruption to local traffic. There is absolutely no time between the first and second tour, you step off one bus and get straight onto the next bus so don’t think you have time for a toilet break. The second tour lacked balance. The trip to Delft took around 40 mins, the tour of the Delft Factory was informative and perhaps the highlight of the trip. There was also free time to wander around Delft for approximately 50 mins. Sadly, The Hague was a different story with time off the bus restricted to 10 mins for a photo opportunity at the Peace Palace. Then, for some unknown reason, we spent a whole hour at Madurodam Amusement Park, a very outdated park full of miniature replicas of historical landmarks, historical cities and large developments. Many people didn’t need the full amount of time and left the site before the allocated hour was up. Aside from Madurodam, at all other venues were incredibly crowded. It was a very, very long day, by the time I walked back to my hotel it was after 9.00 pm. I would never do this type of tour again. My suggestion to Viator is to review this offering, reduce the number of participants for each tour to a more manageable number, allow a small break between tours and strive to achieve a better balance in time allocation for the second tour. I would go so far as to say, remove Madurodam from the itinerary.

A visit to see the countryside
, Apr 2019
It was a nice opportunity to see interesting sites outside of Amsterdam, but it was also very focused on stops that urged us to buy things. I would have much more enjoyed seeing the city of Delft than the factory, The stop in Hague was hardly worth it, just a quick drive by. I also didn't realize that I was signing up for 2 different tours that took time out of the day to return to the Central Station and change buses, etc. Madurodam was charming. The tour guides did a nice job, buses were clean and nice.

We were very upset with this tour.. the morning to the windmills, wooden shoe factory was nice and we had a good guide. However the 2nd half was really a bust... except for Delft which is why we booked it... as it turns out the remainder of the afternoon tour was a bus ride through The Hague and a stop at Madurodam... which frankly is a total waste of time. Not only that but by the time you get there they are closing. This tour would have been about 3 hours shorter if they just tacked the Delft tour on the end of the morning. It was weird because the bus returns to amsterdam after the morning to drop off and pick up new passengers. tour guides changed too... and the guy in the afternoon was also pretty much a waste. Of the 6 total stops... 4 were great and 2 were awful and actually The Hague isnt even a stop.. just a ride thorugh town pointing out buidings
Great overview of these locations

This review is for two different tours put together. The first part was Zaanse Schans Windmills which was very good. It was interesting and enjoyable. I highly recommend it a 4. However, the second tour which they encourage you to take together needs some help! The Delft was good - but very short! We were given a quick tour very interesting but very little time to shop and purchase Delft was by far the best part of the tour. The Hague was a drive around the city with a quick photo stop - not interesting at all. We were not able to go to where the tour stated as it was closed. The Madurodam was fine - it should have been the shortest part of the tour - and instead it was the longest... we spend about 90 minutes wandering the miniature city - which was interesting especially if you have children, but not for the time frame we were given. We were bored - plus everything was closed as it was too late in the evening. They were closing the doors behind us. Take the tour of the Windmills the wooden shoe factory and the cheese factory and forget the second tour. Take the train to Delft on your own.

The tour was worth all the money! The sides were exactly on time, though some of my friends pass by the coffeeshop before the tour, they were patient to wait for my friends and took them to the meeting place. The fist stop was Marken, we saw how they make the clogs, I didn't buy anything - its too expensive. The took us to Volendam with he boat, and went to the cheese factory, here - I spent a lot! Reasonable price then, the windmills. The morning tour lasted only 5 hours but very good tour, highly recommended. We went to our afternoon tour, we stopped by the Deft - home of the luxurious Royal Deft - so expensive piece of ceramic. We stopped by the city center where we get to eat snacks / lunch - Out time wasn't enough for this, though there's a lot to explore. We went to the Hague, the business center of the Netherlands, we stopped by the Royal Palace and our final destination, the highlight of the tour MADURODAM! - The entrance fee was free and we were able to see Netherlands in miniature. Overall the trip was good, educational and we saw glimpse of Netherlands, Theres so much to see, so much to learn. The guides were knowledgeable, patient, humorous and helpful. Highly recommended.
A Wonderful representation of Everything Dutch

This is two half day tours packaged as a full day tour. The itinerary should state that your only opportunity to sit and eat is in vollendam 10:15 - 11 am. We were not hungry then and there plenty of shops to visit. The windmills are the last morning stop. We toured the one farthest from the parking lot which meant we had little time to shop or grab a snack. We were worried we would miss our afternoon tour but told we would have the same driver. We were barely able to use a restroom back in Amsterdam before the next tour left. We enjoyed Delft but need more time at the Delft factory shop and less in the town square or don't include Madurodam (preferred). The Hague is just a drive through and that is fine.
