My only complaint about this cruise was that the maximum number of people were on board and it was quite crowded and cramped. The driver said they usually don't have that many people. Otherwise the driver was very informative and entertaining. I would recommend this cruise to first-timers in Amsterdam.
What a fun, comfortable and casual cruise on a covered wooden boat with only a few other passengers, that included most all of the canals in central Amsterdam. Funny and informative captain who provided a lot of the local history and color.
With a family of 3 including 11 month old infant we had a very pleasant tour around the town through countless canals. The boat is very cozy, sits 30 people and super skilled captain explained sites as we sailed on.
We did the canal tour on our first full day and found it to be a pleasant way to explore the city. Our captain Jan was funny and knowledgable. Small group, which was nice and made it feel more personable. Would recommend.
I am a travel agent and took this cruise - would recommend to clients

We took the early cruise in the morning and it was fabulous. Captain Arthur was entertaining and provided great history about Amsterdam. Very funny and informative. There are other larger boats with tons of people for slightly cheaper, however this is totally worth paying extra for, nice quiet classic boat, personable and wasn't squashed like a sardine. My husband and I were very happy with this tour. I have been recommending this to our family and friends. Easy to find the departure point as well. Very satisfied. Kudos to this company.
The classic Salonboat was in gorgeous condition. While built in the 1930's, it has been retrofitted with new electric propulsion. The boat arrived at the appointed pier on schedule. The tour took us through a number of the waterways so we could see how Amsterdam had grown through the ages. The Captain/guide provided a nice explanatory discussion of the layout of Amsterdam prior to the cruise. Complimentary coffee and tea were available. The tour lasted just about 1.5 hours. What a relaxing way to see the city.
What a wonderful experience we had on the canal cruise, very informative and enjoyable, would highly recommend going on this one, much better than the larger group ones, smaller group for more one on one information.
We had high expectations for this cruise and we were not disappointed. Our Captain, Jan(sp) was also our tour guide. He was full of interesting information and presented it in an entertaining fashion. Fortunately for us, his English is excellent. This tour gave us a perfect first look at Amsterdam. I would heartily recommend the tour to anyone, including families with small children, Incidentally, the dock which was our beginning and ending point is conveniently located, just a few minutes from the Amsterdam Flower Market.
This was an excellent tour. The 90 minutes flew by and Captain Sjoerd was very energetic as he masterfully steered the beautiful boat and gave us lots of facts and history about Amsterdam, including numerous architectural highlights.
