  • Get panoramic views of Canberra from the summit of Mt Ainslie
  • Take a guided tour of the Australian War Memorial and hear the history of ANZAC troops

  • Drive by The Lodge, Captain Cook Memorial Fountain, National Library, National Carillon and High Court of Australia

Why Travelers Choose This Tour

See more of the country and learn about its politics and history in one well-planned day.
Begin with early morning pickup from your Sydney hotel and start the 3-hour drive to Canberra in your climate-controlled deluxe coach. Stop halfway in the quaint town of Sutton Forest located at the Southern Highlands to stretch your legs or perhaps purchase or morning tea (own expense).

Drive into central Canberra where you drive by important civic monuments such as National Library of Australia, the High Court of Australia, National Carillon bell tower and the Captain Cook Memorial Jet (fountain).

Your tour to Canberra can include stops at the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House, the High Court of Australia, the National Museum and National Art Gallery of Australia, and the National Carillon.

The War Memorial is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the wars of the Commonwealth of Australia; you will have a private tour with a guide through the shrine and honor the people who have sacrificed their lives during the wars.

Your guide will provide fascinating insight into an exhibit at either the National Art Gallery or the National Museum of Australia, which present top-notch exhibits that explore Australian culture and history.

Your excursion includes a private tour with a guide of Parliament House, which reopened in 1988 after extensive renovations. The innovative buildings include rooftop gardens with 360-degree views of the city. You maybe even get to witness the Houses of Parliament in session (subject to sitting times). Later, drive past The Lodge, which is the official residence of the Prime Minister. As Australia’s political and administrative center, Canberra houses various foreign embassies and other key national institutions.

After taking in the many highlights of Canberra, take in views of the city at the Mount Ainslie Lookout and then head back to Sydney, stopping briefly en route at a restaurant where you can purchase dinner. Your tour ends in the evening when you are returned to your Sydney hotel.

Very Interesting

This is a long trip but really worth it. We had an excellent driver which made the trip even more interesting - thanks Vince. The War Memorial is fascinating and the museum interesting, although I was a little disappointed as it has a lot of work going on and you could not see all the exhibits. Proud to visit our Parliament House. Overall an excellent tour.

All parts were good except the communication part for the first pick up that was terribly confusing.
An interesting trip

It was a great experience. The guide was amazing, very kind... he provided us with lots of information about the country, politics, wild life, education, healthcare, history... Also the guide in Canberra was really nice. The only bad thing I can say is that because of the time we couldn't enjoy the National Museum as I would have liked to. Maybe it is a long trip for just one day (in fact we arrived in Sydney very late and I was exhausted). I think it is worth to make it a two day trip... and as Canberra is not so big you can think of somewhat else to do on the way back to Sydney.
Lawrence Ortiz -The Grand Canberra a heartfelt experience!!!

Let us treasure the way they have lived from the past that will be our day to day weapon for the days to come!
Stellar day trip to Canberra

This kind of long trip can be grueling, but it was well timed, everyone stayed punctual and our driver, Peter, was witty, informative and entertaining (as well as a smooth driver). The use of individual additional guides at the sites in Canberra was excellent (kudos to Kirsten). Very interesting and informative adventure.

It was a long day but considering the distance we travelled it was an intensive tour of Canberra a most interesting place. I would have liked more time at the War Memorial but when looking back on what we did can see how time just didn't allow for it. Darren our driver was an amazing host for the day making it a pleasurable day.

It is quite a long journey by bus from Sydney, but Canberra is well worth seeing. We started with a panoramic view from above the city which was a useful introduction. We then visited the ANZAC memorial, a gallery of Australian art, including some aborigine and finished off in the parliament buildings. We had a very knowledgeable guide, but unfortunately she supplied a bit too much detail.

This trip is not worth it at all. The tour guide was absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! She spoke very softly and therefore could not hear anything she said. She hurried us through everything it was really bad. The driver dropped us off blocks from our hotel, after letting every one else off at their hotels and directed us in the wrong direction to walk to our hotel!! We left at 7 am and we got left off at 10 PM!!! WAY TO LONG TO BE ON THIS BUS!!! I do noy recommend this

The visit to the war memorial is a good one. There were too many things to see and learn there. Perhaps more time can be dedicated for us to visit.
