Overview

Get inside one of Florence's best-known buildings with this 1.5-hour skip-the-line guided tour of the Duomo, including its famous dome. Climb to the top of the Cupola to enjoy spectacular views over Florence and to see Vasari's beautiful frescoes up close.
  • 1.5-hour skip-the-line tour of the cathedral and dome in Florence
  • Climb into the iconic dome of the Florence Duomo to see its amazing construction
  • See Vasari frescoes and stained glass windows up close
  • Enjoy incredible views over the city from the top of the dome
  • Get a tour of the cathedral's interior after visiting the dome
Meet your guide outside the dome's entrance and bypass the often-long queue with your skip-the-line ticket.
As you climb the 463 steps to the top of the cathedral's dome, learn about how the construction of the egg-shaped Cupola wasn't done until long after the cathedral was otherwise finished – leaving a gaping hole in the building for decades. Filippo Brunelleschi's revolutionary design for the dome within a dome is still widely revered among architects, and was the largest dome in the world at the time it was completed.
From inside the dome, enjoy a wonderful view of parts of the cathedral you don't normally get to see – including Vasari's 'Last Judgement' frescoes – as well as spectacular views outside the cathedral overlooking the historic city of Florence.
Climb back down from the dome with your guide for a brief guided visit inside the cathedral itself to conclude the tour. Admire its Gothic interior, designed by Arnolfo di Cambio and Brunelleschi.
Please note: Most of the time on this tour is spent in the dome (roughly 1 hour 15 minutes), with a 15-minute tour of the cathedral at the end. Your ticket allows you to stay in the cathedral after the tour concludes, and also gives you entry to the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (no skip-the-line access for those). There is no skip-the-line entry for the Duomo from November 1-March 31.

Ricardo is excellent and the Duomo is wonderful. Unfortunately the electronic equipment he uses is sorely lacking. If you take the tour. Stay within 15 -20 feet of Ricardo and take your own headphones. Otherwise kiss your time and money good-bye.Also--- the name of the tour is a total misnomer. You do not skip the line. But get in line behind everyone else already in line. This is a Join The Line Tour. Plan to spend a minimum of at least 20 minutes in line----- there is no skipping the line.

Great walk to the top of the Duome. Wear good shoes, easy climb but avoid if heights are a issue. Wonderful views of the city. Skip the Line tour - highly recommend. Tour Company contacted us day before to confirm and give final instructions and where to meet. A MUST DO tour.

We miss understood that this tour was all about steps, one way, no turn around and either climb or cancel. We thought we were going to spend a lot of time on the floor looking up but it was more about looking down. In our mid 70's not sure we could do it. Our group was encouraging and we had several rest stops but we made it to the top and outstanding views of Florence- WOW! Of course we had to come back down as many steps and did not get to go on the main floor which was a disappointment as we were told it was not part of the tour, but checking our write up, it was to be included. The view from the top was worth the effort but would have been nice to see the dome from the bottom

Don't even think about standing in line!

I can't recommend doing a small group tour for any attraction more!! SO WORTH IT! The tour guides are knowledgable, personable, and passionate about what they do and make you feel comfortable. I wish I could remember the tour guides name because she was excellent. The 400 steps climb to the top is breathtaking, and you get 2/3 breaks on the way to the top. I would do this tour again, maybe on a less hot day.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Duomo BUT not as advertised. You DO NOT receive a headset nor are escorted down from the Duomo and you DO NOT receive a guided tour of the Cathedral. The tour guide only escorts you up and then leaves you at the top. You make your own way down and it directly leads you to the exit. You also do wait on line to get in. This advertisement is very deceiving. I do not blame the tour guide for this. She was very knowledgeable about the Duomo and deserves 5 stars but I blame Viator for not accurately stating what is included in the tour.

WORTH IT.
Many people are scared the stairs will be too much, but if you are of decent health, you can do it. Corridors are narrow though!

Our tour guide was so informational and interesting. He told us all about the Medici family and their influence on the city. I learned a ton about the history of Florence and Michelangelo, and I'm definitely not a history buff. My husband IS the history guy and he LOVED this day.

The view from the top is awesome!!! We did the 10am trip and it was quick and perfect!

My husband and I loved this tour - our guide did a great job of explaining the history and art of the Duomo Dome. We enjoyed walking to the top and getting the great views. Nothing like Skip the Line tours when you see the hundreds of people lined up outside waiting to go in. This tour included the Duomo Museum and Baptistry, both were well worth visiting. Thank you!
