Your tour begins with pick-up from Kusadasi Cruise Port, Izmir Airport, or your Kusadasi hotel by private vehicle. After a scenic drive along the Aegean Coast, arrive at the first destination of the day – the ancient Greek city of Priene.
Accompanied by your private guide, set out to explore the ruins, which date back as early as the 4th century B.C. and get a sense of ancient life as you stroll through the agora, admire the grand theater, and see the remains of the gymnasium and Roman Baths. Stop to take photos of archaeological highlights such as the Bouleuterion, the Temple of Demeter, and the dramatically situated Temple of Athena, which stands at the foot of a sheer rock face.
Continue to ancient Miletos, once one of Anatolia’s largest cities, perched on the banks of the Meander River. Learn about the city’s long history, which dates back to Hittite times, and discover its strategic importance during the Greek and Roman era, situated on one of the major trade routes. Take time to explore the ruins both with and without your guide, and be sure to visit the star attraction – the gigantic 25,000-seat Roman theater, one of the most impressively preserved in Anatolia.
After breaking for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant, the final stop of the day is the magnificent ruins of Didyma. Discover how the ancient site was a sacred center of ancient Greece, and trace its fascinating history as you see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, one of the largest sanctuaries of the Greek world.
After a full day uncovering Turkey’s ancient history, return to Kusadasi, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel or cruise terminal.
