While in Tasmania, learn about some of Australia's aquatic creatures on a 45-minute tour of Seahorse World, an aquarium located outside Launceston on the northern coast. Your guide takes you through three exhibits: the Cave of the Seahorse, the Southern Ocean Aquarium, and a high-tech seahorse farm. Check out the accessible critters in the touch pool, and view marine life from the southern seas like giant cuttlefish, weedy seadragons, a Tasmanian giant crab, and sharks.
Make your own way to Seahorse World, located at Beauty Point about a 45-minute drive from Launceston. After showing your voucher at the ticket sales desk, your guide leads you on your 45-minute tour.
Begin in the Cave, where your guide introduces the seahorses and their behaviors. Continue to the Farm for an exclusive look at the world’s first working seahorse farm. See pot-bellied seahorses in all stages of life, from fingernail-size babies to larger adults.
Your final stop is the Southern Ocean Aquarium, where you get to observe a selection of bizarre marine animals that live in Tasmania's waters. You can also visit the touch pool and hold a seahorse.
Your tour ends in the gift shop. You can purchase coffee or snacks upstairs and take in views over the Tamar River.
