3.5-hour day trip to the Ourika Valley from Marrakech
Travel through the foothills of the Atlas Mountains
Admire the lush landscape of the Oued Ourika gorge
Enjoy a cup of mint tea with the locals in a traditional Berber house
Tour includes round-trip travel by air-conditioned coach from your hotel in Marrakech
Begin your experience with a pickup from your Marrakech hotel or from central Marrakech. Settle aboard your air-conditioned coach with your guide and travel south toward the Ourika Valley beneath the Atlas Mountains. After roughly 45 minutes on the road, enter the foothills of the rocky range and soak up the views as you make your way along the steep-sided Oued Ourika gorge. Breathe in the cool mountain air and pass rushing rivers, lush terraces, and apple, almond and olive groves tended by Berber villagers. If you’re here between February and May, enjoy the added sight of green pastures awash with wild flowers and hillside cherry orchards wreathed in pink blossom. Glimpse mud-and-stone Berber hamlets where donkeys drink from mountain springs, and as you travel, hear fascinating tales about the age-old Berber culture and customs. Stop at a village and learn how the locals cultivate their crops in the rich valley soils. Head inside a rustic Berber house and discover more about the slower pace of mountain life as you chat to the friendly locals over a glass of mint tea. Afterward, admire more beautiful scenery as you return through the hills to Marrakech, where your trip concludes at the original start point.
Really nice, friendly and enthusiastic tour guide. Well-placed and interesting stops. I thought the stop at the apothecary's felt like a time-filler and not specific enough to the locality. Overall it was very good.
Had a really great guide the pottery was a bit funny but then it set the day for everything being not what I thought it would be but better well worth going on saw inside house had the mint tea which was the best I had views of mountains great and the valley had wonderful sites to see would recommend to anyone
A good opportunity to get out of the main city of Marrakech and see some of the dessert and the Atlas mountains. Sadly the tour seemed to focus more on getting you to spend money with the local artisans than seeing the sites of the Ourika Valley, however seeing how Argan oil is made was interesting.
This was a half way house between a full trip to the Atlas mountains and not going at all. If you want a more thorough visit then this isn't the trip for you. If you want a quick taste of the valley, mountains and Berber culture then half a day is fine.
