Enjoy a sunset cruise aboard a traditional Arabian trading vessel called a ‘dhow.’ Enjoy sea breezes while you sail past Oman’s rugged coastline sprinkled with medieval forts and fishing villages. Marvel at postcard-worthy sights you pass including Al Bustan Palace, Muttrah’s Corniche and Al Alam Palace — the Sultan of Oman’s residence nestled in the Muscat harbor. Sip bottled water and soda as you capture the vivid sunset during your time on the water, plus hotel pickup and drop-off from Muscat.
Sunset cruise aboard a traditional dhow from Muscat
Soak up spectacular views of Oman’s rugged coastline as you drift over the Arabian Sea
Cruise into old Muscat harbor and see the sultan's spectacular Al Alam Palace
Enjoy magical views over Muttrah’s beautiful Corniche and latticed waterfront
Take photos of the stunning Al Bustan Palace standing proud in its magnificent bay
Stay refreshed with complimentary bottled water and soda on board
After hotel pickup and a transfer to Marina Bandar Al-Rowdha outside the city, board the dhow and take a cushioned seat on deck to begin yourMuscat sunset cruise. Handcrafted wooden sailing vessels like this one have been used for centuries around the Arabian Peninsula. Just like medieval traders once drifted along Oman’s rugged coastline, you’ll head northward past the Hajar Mountains to secluded bays and picturesque hamlets.
Glide past the Muscat Yacht Club and the fishing boats of Sidab to Cemetery Bay and the old Muscat harbor where cliff paintings depict ships that have docked here through the ages. Glimpse Jalali and Mirani, 16th-century forts that tower above Al Alam Palace — home to the Sultan of Oman.
From Muttrah Harbor, view the whitewashed edifices of Muttrah Corniche, home to the Muttrah Souk whose labyrinthine alleys teem with gold, silver and spices. Sail by the exclusive Ritz-Carlton Hotel of Al Bustan Palace, tucked against the mountain-fringed bay.
Watch enraptured as the setting sun reflects its fiery glow on the water, and refresh with complimentary bottled water and soda before returning to the marina for a transfer back to your hotel.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening. The rugged beauty of the Omani coast compares to those of Crete and various Aegean islands. Easy pick up and drop off at our hotel which was in the diplomatic area of Muscat.
I was picked up from my hotel and enjoyed the tour. HOwever when speaking To others on the tour I realised that I had paid much more than people who had booked through other tour companies. Also, it was difficult to make phone confirmation 24 hours before pick up when I was still travelling. Altogether, pleasant but over priced.
This is a very good trip, well worth doing. Hotel pick up and drop off is included. Comfortable on board facilities and English speaking, very good humoured crew. The skipper will even let you take the wheel! Soft drinks, water,a few dates and nuts inc.
A romantic 'Dhow' cruise up to sunset while viewing all spots of interest along the coast with seagulls flying by. Omani guides were very friendly and served un limited water and sodas in addition to chocolates and nuts, dates and arabic coffee.
We were taken to the marina in time and boarded the Dhow early. The cruise was nice and we got to see the rugged coastline. We were offered soft drinks, water, dates and coffee. There were not a lot of commentary though about the places that we saw.
We were collected on time and the trip was very pleasant. The Dhow was comfortable and the crew friendly. Plenty of soft drinks and nibbles as described in the brochure. We enjoyed the scenery and the relaxed approach. The sun set was lovely. After the sunset the trip home was quite slow.
