Day 1: Start with morning pickup from your hotel then explore New Delhi with your guide. Visit highlights including Humayun’s Tomb, the 1,500-year-old Iron Pillar, and Qutub Minar, which stands 240 feet (72 meters) high — one of the tallest minarets in the world.
Next, drive past government buildings, embassies, India Gate, and Connaught Place — the main shopping district of the capital. Then go through the imposing gates of the Old City to see Jamma Mosque and Chandni Chowk (Moonlight Square), the oldest market area of Delhi. Visi Raj Ghat and nearby ghats where VIPs including Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi were cremated.
Top off the day with a rickshaw ride that winds through bustling narrow streets lined with people, shops, and colorful wares. Your day ends with hotel drop-off.
Day 2: Begin with hotel pickup and visits to two renowned temples with elaborate grounds: Akshardham Temple (closed Mondays) and the Lotus Temple. Continue to Dilli Haat, an open-air bazaar with handmade goods, fabric, and foods from different Indian cultural traditions. Have lunch there, choosing from the offerings at the permanent food stalls. Then browse the market with your guide available to help with translation.
