Overview

Enjoy Fiji on this activity tour that combines a motorized boat ride on the Navua River, a swim at a waterfall, bamboo rafting, and visiting a cultural village. Lunch is included. When booking, select the option that corresponds to your hotel location.
  • Take a boat ride on the Navua River
  • Swim beneath the 'Magic Waterfall'
  • Watch for native wildlife, and enjoy the rainforest scenery
  • Visit a local village to learn about cultural customs, and enjoy a traditional lovo lunch
Your tour starts with hotel pickup by your guide for the journey to Navua, an adventure hub in Fiji. When you arrive at Pacific Harbour, board a motorboat for a ride along the Navua River, passing by villages, rainforest, gorges, farmland, rapids, and waterfalls. As you go, watch for native birds like wild ducks and heron.

In about an hour, you'll reach the 'Magic Waterfall,' the tallest falls in Navua. Take a dip in the clear water underneath the cascade, and then hop on a bamboo raft for your third activity—a ride aboard this traditional form of travel used by past inhabitants of Fiji. You'll arrive at a village where a Fijan warrior guides you to the bure, the meeting house. Learn about local customs and traditions, and watch a welcome ceremony known as a yagona, during which you can try kava, a drink made from the root of a plant. Hear about the village's history, founded in the early 1800s, and then watch a war dance and feel free to join in the snake dance, if you wish.

Test your skills at painting on traditional fabric, and observe local women braiding mats before enjoying your lovo lunch, which consists of fish, meat, and vegetables such as wild yams, wrapped in banana leaves and baked underground. Fruit and salad accompany your meal. When you're done eating, your driver takes you back to your hotel for drop-off.

Well worth the drive

From the coral coast it was approx a 2 hour drive but the travel guides were very informative and charming and it went quickly. The ride up the river was fun, and the swim in the waterfall exhilarating. Once back at the village, the traditional meal we had was better than what I’ve had at the 5 star resort I’m staying at! We had welcome Cava ceremony and watched various performances and displays of traditional village life. So very glad we did this 😊

A fantastic day! We had so much fun and so did our two young children, the people were extremely friendly. Bill one of the long boat drivers even carried my son on his shoulders to the waterfall and back which our son loved! A fantastic cultural experience and very eye opening to see some of the real Fiji life and how villages live and sustain themselves. The lovo lunch was literally the BEST food we have eaten our entire stay (and we are staying at a 4.5-5 star resort). Cannot recommend this trip more.....would definitely do it again! Also a hot tip: buy souvenirs from this local village! They have most of what you will see in the shops and at the resorts for a third of the price and the money you spend goes back to this amazing village. Company is owned and run by the village!

Our group was so impressed by this tour. It was such a good experience. We felt like we genuinely got to see some authentic Fijian culture this day. The drive from Denarau Island area was 3 hours, so be prepared for that! The driver did stop midway for us to use the restroom though and buy any drinks or snacks we wanted. The sites were nice to see on the drive, so the 3 hours really was no big deal. We were first taken to the village to get ready for the boating portion of the tour. I had read online that the children appreciate small gifts, so I ordered a bunch of puffy stickers on amazon along with gel pens. I definitely could have just gotten a ton more of the puffy stickers and would have been fine with those. The kids loved them and even the adults! The river boat portion of the tour was really neat. We saw a decent amount of children playing along the river and then the waterfall was seriously just magical! Just being there, swimming by the falls....we were obsessed! Our guide Knox showed us some fun jumps for those who were more adventurous. After we were finished at the falls we went back to the village, but stopped for a short bamboo boat ride. At the village we were greeted so warmly and really enjoyed the ceremony and the food was seriously delicious! We couldn't believe everything you got on the tour for the price we paid. Everyone in our group agreed this was our favorite experience in Fiji (and we did ALL the tours...lol).
