Fun Small Group Trip
John D
, Oct 2019
The guide picked us up in Reykjavik and drove us to his business, which is an old farm, which at first was a bit concerning wondering what we got into. They provided helmets and warm overalls to wear. It was about 0^C with strong winds with a few light flurries, so we were very happy to have the extra layer. The tour stopped by a beautiful lake which still had swans there, then we went up to the first, large hill/small mountain. It was not a difficult ride even though this was my first time driving an ATV. At the summit we got a good view of the sounding area but the winds were about 40MPH at the top. When we got down we stopped at a local meadow and were able to get up close and freed a group of Icelandic horses, I am not a horse person, but these animals as so friendly and got some great pictures with them. Our next stop was a bit larger hill/mountain, which was a bit more difficult to get up but was much funner driving :) . At the top you get great views of Reykjavik and the harbor, but the winds were even stronger. Over night a front had come thru and had generating hurricane force winds in the south and blizzard conditions on the glaciers. On the way down we passed another group , but there had to be at least 12 ATVs, after seeing that i was glad we went with Reykjavik ATV and had a small group. Don't let the old farm environment scary you away, it didnt have a fancy office but the ATVs worked fine, had a dent or two, but was excellent outing and would go again.

A thrilling adventure

I’ve learned that a great guide makes for a great experience and ours was no exception. “Siggy” was our guy for the 4 of us . My wife and I on one vehicle and my son and daughter on the other following Siggy through lava fields stone paths up the mountains and down. Stopped by the lakes and to feed the Islandic horses. This was a thrilling ride not for the faint of heart. Siggy provided all the gear to keep warm and heavy duty helmets. It was an unbelievable experience at times feeling you were actually on another planet. I highly recommend this. Can’t imagine it being better!

We had the pleasure of Ziggy being our tour guide. He easily made this experience very enjoyable and unforgettable. He was fun, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He even let us stop at a local farm to feed the horses! My boyfriend and I are still talking about how we rode the ATV right through a huge rainbow! It was such an amazing day. Thanks, Ziggy!

Took this trip because our whale watching trip was cancelled due to bad weather. We knew we weren't going to see any views but took the trip for the riding experience. It was so much fun. The guide took us through what we needed to know and then we were off. Not cheap but then you are in Iceland so you know what to expect. Would highly recommend.

Pretty awesome way to see Iceland from another perspective. I was the only one on the tour so that makes it even more spectacular.

We had a fantastic time on our ATV ride. Our guide, Kristjan, was knowledgeable about the country and made our experience a lot of fun. The tour let us see the beauty of the area surrounding Reykjavic. We recommend calling Kristjan if you are wanting a personal, exciting, and fun ATV experience!

My family had a great time on this...

My family had a great time on this ATV tour. Kristian spelling?, the owner of the company, picked the five of us up on time and showed us how to operate the ATV's, since none of us had any experience. He took us directly to the garage on his farm, where the ATV's are kept...not fancy or anything and there was no bathroom there as I read in a prior review...but that was not an issue. Beautiful views from the top of the mountain and we had a few stops to take in the scenery and ask questions. The only negatives were some inaccuracies in the tour description: There were NO drinks/snacks included, we only went up ONE mountain, not two as stated in description, and we did NOT stop at a farm to see sheep, chickens, horses. But the tour was great, despite this. We had a beautiful sunny day for our tour and I would highly recommend this tour to others!

We were picked up by Jo'n at 4:30pm. Our time was from 5-7pm. The ATV place was about 15 minutes outside of Reykjavik. Jo'n was very friendly and explained what gear we needed to wear and how to ride the ATV quads. No waivers were needed to be signed. I like that the Icelandic people don't make you sign a dozen forms before starting your adventure. The only reason that I didn't give this activity 5 stars, is because there was no toilet for the women to use. I had to go around the back of the building and squat in the bushes! I haven't done that since my college days in Texas! It was just our family and it was a blast! We rode on the open road, up the hill tops and down around a lake. It was starting to get cold but we really enjoyed it. A great way to see the area. Just beautiful! I highly recommend for families with teens.
