To get to Sausalito from San Francisco, take the provided shuttle from Pier 39. Then meet your pilot and hop aboard the 6-passenger seaplane, which features large windows and high wings for unobstructed views and photo ops. As you take off from the water, fly toward the Pacific coast and down to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Then cruise over to downtown San Francisco, soaring past Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 and the Embarcadero. Enjoy views of the Trans-America Pyramid and Coit Tower, and circle over San Francisco Bay to Alcatraz Island and Angel Island. Fly past the waterfront hamlets of Tiburon and Belvedere before returning to Sausalito for a water landing. You can stay in Sausalito on your own, if you wish, to shop or grab a bite to eat, or head back to the city on the shuttle.
Board the ferry to Alcatraz Island at Pier 33 on the Embarcadero, and set off across San Francisco Bay, admiring views of the bridge and city skyline.
When you arrive on the island, put on your provided headset to explore the cellblock via the self-guided audio tour, 'Doing Time.' As you walk through the former prison, you’ll hear commentary from real inmates and staff about the history and living conditions of this legendary penitentiary. Learn about famous criminals like Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly, enter one of the jail cells, and hear about escape attempts.
You can stay at Alcatraz as long as you like, and return to Pier 33 by ferry when you’re ready; ferries depart about every 30 minutes.
