El Yunque is gorgeous, I recommend this excursion for anyone wanting to have a once in a lifetime adventure. Scenery is beyond words. Tour guide Hector is extremely knowledgable about the rainforest and everything and anything else to do in PR. Great snacks during the tour, absolutely delicious fruit.
I want to start off by saying El Yunque is beautiful and the two tour guides were great and super helpful. However, here is what you need to keep in mind. You start off the hike with walking straight into a lake which means your feet are wet the whole time. I do NOT recommend you hike with water shoes because you will be climbing rocks and will slip. The hike itself was not too long (which is very disappointing). Most of the time you will spend swimming and jumping off a cliff (if you choose to do that) then you start climbing very steep rocks to get to a "rock water slide". Overall you spend more time swimming vs. hiking and the time you do hike its more like "rock climbing" or hoping you wont slip and fall.
I am completely blind, but love to hike! A lot of times, I get
pushback from tours who are unsure that I actually am capable of
hiking safely and that I am able to communicate my needs. Not so
here! Jaime, Chris, and Mitchell were all wonderful! They included
me in everything, including the water slides and rope swings, gave
verbal instructions as needed, and responded to my feedback when their
methods of assistance were not what I needed. I had an amazing day
thanks to these fabulous guides
You are a true inspiration! We are so glad our communication (with Bespoke staff) was great and you were able to enjoy this adventure to the fullest. Learning about experiences like yours is one of the most gratifying things. I am pretty sure this day was memorable for you, and for the guides as well.
My best friend and I took this excursion while visiting San Juan to celebrate graduation. Our tour guides, Jacob and Mitchell, were amazing! Jacob was very knowledgeable about the rain forest, and Mitchell was extremely helpful in assisting people to hard to reach places. The hike was about 30 minutes into the forest, and then we spent about 1-2 hours jumping off rocks, using a rope swing, sliding down rock slides and swimming in the natural hot springs. The adventure requires coordination and strength, so I would not recommend it to people who aren't active. Bring a pair of sandals for the end of the hike and a pair of water shoes because there are rocks everywhere. Also, when choosing the tennis shoes for the adventure, make sure it's a pair you don't care about too much because they will get very dirty. Don't worry about bringing a towel because you'll dry off on the hike back from the springs, but do bring an extra pair of clothes because there's a spot for you to change at before lunch. Speaking of, the tour guide will bring you to an area to get lunch that includes multiple different restaurants on a beach. It's all very, very good! Enjoy your time - we sure did!!
This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. We went to places that you would never know how to get to as a tourist--only a local can take you there, and our guide was wonderful--knowledgable, careful, and encouraging. This is a water-focused tour, so if you love water activities, as I do, you will be in heaven. You climb up rocks to go down two water slides; jump into the water from 30 and 17-foot cliffs; and swing into the water from a rope. There were a few people in our group who didn't want to do the jumps or the slides, and they were able to lounge on the rocks without hiking. But it's ideal for people who like to do things that are a little scary and out of your comfort zone! There are also beautiful trees and scenery--we met a 500-year-d tree.
Probably the most impressive experience for all my travel in PR! Very beautiful places in Jungle, great organization and all day of fun;)
Be sure you have a comfortable shoes and sunscreen. Highly recommend this tour!
My husband and I had a blast on this tour. The parts that were actually hiking and waterfall water slides, cliff jumping, etc were breathtaking and worth the trip. However, we didn't hike very far and felt like the 1.5 hour time we had in Luquillo to eat lunch should have been spent doing more hiking! Our guide was awesome and the views were amazing!
A rare highlight for hard to please world travelers

My family has been treated to many great trips and excursions over time, most via their generous gransfather during family reunionns. It's hard to impress them, but this tour did. The helf-day was a powerful mix of knowledgable nature guide and excellent high adventure. Seriously, this was great. My 16 and 21-year-old ate it up. So did their parents!
