Book your desired option, and depart your Shenzhen hotel (select hotels only) or a central meeting point by air-conditioned coach.
Swing by Shenzhen’s skyscapers on route to Guanlan Painters Village, a Qing-era Hakka village converted into a printmaking complex surrounded by lotus ponds and bamboo groves. Established in 2006, the village draws flocks of Chinese and international artists.
Explore with or without a guide (depending on option selected), and then head for Splendid China (own expense), a theme park of scaled-down models of Chinese landmarks. Admire the incredible miniatures of the Great Wall and other buildings, and then visit the neighboring Folk Cultural Village (own expense): where reconstructed villages of some of China’s ethnic minorities celebrate the ways and crafts of these ancient peoples.
Enjoy ample time to visit the villages to discover the architecture, handicrafts, and foods of peoples such as the Dai, Zhuang, and Gao Shan, and perhaps catch a performance showcasing their folk customs.
Later, watch the park’s live, 55-minute Dragon and Phoenix show: a dazzling celebration of these ethnic communities’ cultures and legends. Marvel at the music, dance, and acrobatics performed by 500 artistes before a return transfer to the original starting point.
