Really great experience. The guides...
, Apr 2018
Really great experience. The guides were relaxed and casual, but were also well organized. The speed boats were really fun and the snorkeling was in calm crystal blue water, and was much better than I expected from other reviews. We saw three turtles, several sting rays, a barracuda, and a lot of fish. Would strongly recommend this trip for anyone wanting a fun way to get on the water and do some snorkeling at the same time.
My husband and I took this excursion in March, 2018. We cruised into St Kitts on a cruise ship, disembarked, and met up with our driver. When we made our reservations for this excursion we were given detailed instructions as to where, and when, to meet the driver. It went very smoothly!
After a short drive, we arrived at the beach where the speedboats were waiting. We were given life jackets, told to put our belongings in the dry storage area of our boats, and then we had a brief safety and instruction demo. There were 6 boats in our outing, and it didn't take long for us all to take off! It was a beautiful day, and we all thoroughly enjoyed speeding along the coastline!
We tied up in a calm area where those that wished to do so could snorkel. I did so! The water was very clear and calm, and there were many fish to see - much more than I normally see on snorkeling excursions. Some people saw turtles, but I missed those. The snorkeling spot was right next to a rusted-out shipwreck. This was not a staged shipwreck, but an actual ship that had been at anchor nearby. It was tossed ashore by a hurricane approximately 15 years ago. The wreck was amazing to see. There were ship parts strewn all about the ocean floor. Much of the ship was out of the water, and it was actually creaking! Very interesting! There was also a large barracuda that, according to our guide, always hangs out below the boats while they are tied up there. The barracuda was a little intimidating at first, but he certainly was not interested in any of us.
Getting back into the boats was not so easy! It was quite akward, and did provide for a lot of laughs. We all made it back in, though, and headed back to our starting point. When we got back, one of our guides had some nice fruit and juice waiting for us.
My only complaint, and it is not a big one, is that the tour was supposed to end at 1:45. However, by that time we were back on our cruise ship and enjoying lunch. I think the excursion was about 1/2 hour shorter that advertised. The time we did have was wonderful, though, and I would definitely recommend this tour! Another note - my husband and I are in our 60's and 70's, and had no problems on this excursion. In fact, we rode faster than all the younsgters! Very fun time!!
They should allow more boats for single riders. We had a dud boat that had trouble keeping water out. It was also slow to start. Our guides were awesome! Communication wasn't great from a booking stance. We could have been picked up at the hotel which I had asked for but no one reached out to confirm, so we took a taxi to the Marina which we paid for and then they drove to the hotel to pick us up. We were already in the shuttle and they were looking for us. There were other people on this trip that had the same problem. Other than that the snorkling was fun.
One of the best excursions of our cruise. We were picked up from the port by mini bus, two of us and four others, I was expecting a bigger party so was pleasantly surprised. The driver told us quite a bit about the island and pointed out some interesting places and buildings along the way. On arrival at the beach the six of us were introduced to the staff who gave us a safety briefing and instruction. We were provided with lifejackets and soon on our way. The little boats are quite powerful, good fun, but not too fast. We drove along the coast for about 20-30 mins and then stopped for snorkelling. They provided flippers, masks and snorkels and lighter life vests than the jackets. The snorkelling site was good we saw lots of coral and fish, The staff swam with us and they lifted jelly fish and crabs up for us to look at, unfortunately no turtles this time but we did see a couple of bluespotted ray. We returned to the start point and were offered a juice and some fruit before our return to the port. We really enjoyed this trip and would definitely recommend.
What a lovely excursion we had in April 2017, we were grandparents with our 13 year old twin grandsons, it was such joy to see the smiles on their faces all day long and they said it was the best day of the holiday.
I would highly recommend this trip for all age groups, a big thank you goes to the team who run this tour.
My dad and my 2 teenage kids and I had a BLAST on the mini speedboats. Our tour guides were terrific.
The only down side the only reason I am not giving it a 5 is because the snorkeling was just so-so. The water was beautiful but there wasn't as much to see as I had expected.
