Your tour begins with a trip over Sydney Harbour Bridge. If you like, disembark at the far end for a walk along the bridge’s pedestrian walkway. From this vantage point, you can snap photos of the city skyline, Sydney Harbour and another iconic structure, the Sydney Opera House, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
At the foot of the bridge, take an easy stroll into The Rocks, a historic part of Sydney that dates back to the early days of the colony. Your guide talks about the neighborhood’s past as you see modern restaurants and shops among the heritage-listed buildings that line the waterfront.
Back on board your bus, your driver takes you through the downtown area. You’ll drive by 19th-century buildings such as Parliament House, St Mary’s Cathedral and the Art Gallery of New South Wales as you make your way to The Domain and Royal Botanic Gardens. Disembark to view Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, a landmark with fantastic harbor views. Hear about the convict laborers who hand-carved the sandstone chair for the wife of the governor of New South Wales.
