Tour concludes at the studio
Start the excursion with a pickup from your Tokyo hotel. Your departure time will depend on if you’ve selected the morning or afternoon trip option. Proceed to the studio of this world-famous Japanese swordsmith for an in-depth look at the art and design of this historic blades.

During your visit, you’ll get an insider’s tour of the workshop of this expert samurai sword artisan (one of less than 30 professionals in all of Japan), observing the meticulous detail and craftsmanship that goes into each sword.

As you explore the workshop, you’ll also learn about the symbolic importance of samurai swords in Japanese culture. Traditionally, these artfully-crafted weapons were not only used in battle, but also as ‘amulets’ that protected their owners from harm. The many years of training that go into teaching a swordsmith is reflected in the high value attached to them in contemporary Japanese culture, with many fetching prices of more than 4 million Japanese Yen.

Once you’ve had your fill of the studio and interacting with the swordmaker, you’ll make your own way back to your hotel.
