Choose between departure points in Shinjuku or Ueno, and then meet your group in the morning. You’ll be joining a tour group of mostly Japanese visitors that will be accompanied by an English translator to provide some brief details on each attraction.

Proceed by coach bus to Gunma Prefecture, where you’ll make your first stop at the Nyu Lake sunflower field. Spend the next 50 minutes walking through the fields, marveling at the visual spectacle of hundreds of thousands of these bright-yellow flowers as they seem to align in unison with the rays of the rising sun.

Leave the sunflower field behind and continue to Tambara Lavender Park, the only such park close to Tokyo. You’ll immediately smell the fragrant aroma of the park’s collection of more than 50,000 such flowers, a sensory experience that’s perfectly complemented by the pleasing sight of these purple plants blanketing your field of view. The site is known as a popular locale for Japanese tourists during the annual lavender bloom.

While at the park, take a break for lunch. You’ll be given an included voucher worth 1,000 JPY to purchase your meal, then have a little more than two hours of time to wander the grounds on your own. Many guests choose to check out the park’s on-site shops and its cafes selling lavender-flavored soft serve ice cream.

Finish your day by proceeding to Numata, a town that’s known to be a prolific producer of fresh vegetables and fruit. You’ll stop by a local farm to enjoy 30 minutes of peach picking, including the chance to take one piece of fresh fruit home with you at no charge. After your fruit picking, you’ll return to your original starting point by coach bus.
