The Canadian Automotive Museum was established in 1962 as a community project of the Oshawa Chamber of Commerce to promote the history of the automotive industry and to promote tourism in the area. It opened in 1963 and was incorporated in October 1964 as a charitable, not-for-profit institution.

The tour begins with a brief overview followed by a visit to the main floor, which boasts an impressive display of seven Rolls-Royce vehicles imported by wealthy Canadians. Most notable are a 1912 model owned by Lady Eaton from Toronto and a 1914 edition owned by Montreal’s Sir Mortimer Davis.

Of course, there are also plenty of Canadian-made vehicles on the second level, like a 1949 Mercury Meteor, a 1950 Oldsmobile Futuramic, a 1957 Dodge Regent, a 1971 Manic GT and a 1966 Buick Wildcat.

Before leaving, be sure to visit the fully stocked gift shop and the information-packed research library.
