Receive a morning pickup from your hotel in Bali’s south, after which you’ll travel into Bali’s interior to the renowned city of Ubud. This artistic and spiritual hub is the ideal jumping off point for the rest of your day’s exploration.
Start with a visit to Puri Saren Agung, the official residence of Ubud’s royal family. You’ll also have a chance to enjoy the views of the surrounding rice paddy fields and sample some of the many art galleries and boutiques that give this bohemian area its unique cultural reputation.
Leave Ubud behind and proceed by vehicle to Tirta Empul, a Hindu water temple known for its shrine dedicated to the god Indra. Balinese residents flock to this temple to experience the supposed healing powers of the temple springs. Only a priest can grant official permission to enter the sacred waters, and a sarong or sash is required attire. Just behind the temple is the former presidential guest house built by Indonesian leader Soekarno.
Proceed next to the Chedi Club Hotel, a luxurious resort set among the rice paddies, where you’ll enjoy an included lunch. Finish the day by visiting Goa Gajah, also known as the Elephant Cave, a former monks’ residence that dates back to the 11th century. You’ll be driven back to your hotel after that, arriving around 5:30pm.
