We did our tour through the Blue Waters Caribbean Adventures company. The guides were very friendly and took great care of us. It was an awesome experience and one we won't forget. They provided us with bug spray, water and snack after the kayaking. They are very reliable and would recommend to anyone else.
This is once in a lifetime experience.
We came 2 days before a full moon so the blue luminescent was not as bright, but still it sparkles on our hands when we took handful of water in our cupped hands, it is simply amazing. the water is calm and the kayek is steady and very safe.
The guide was really professional and knowledgeable.
If you go to Vieques, this is a must sea tour.
The Bio Bay itself is amazing!
Things to improve: After everyone gathered in the center of the bay, a storm came. Everyone fled to the shore of the bay. We were bad at kayaking so we were left behind by everyone, including the guide of the group. It was SCARY. We basically had very bad vision under that weather condition. It would be much better if the staff stays behind of everyone.
My wife and I went for blue water Caribbean bio bay tour for Tuesday May 30, 7:30 pm. On the onset, I do appreciate the changes made to my tour day on my request, that was very kind and co-operative of you. I want to bring to your attention, the terrible and worst experience I ever had in my life. The tour guide who was suppose to guide and assist us with the tour, was the worst guide I have ever met and I strongly believe he doesn't justify or does his job what he is meant to do. Our group was of 8 people, six family member from Colombia and two of us. Our guide knew from the beginning that we don't understand Spanish but he talked most of the time in Spanish. My wife told him that she has never done kayaking before but still he was so terrible in his job that it ended up spoiling our evening. He did not explain basic of kayaking, he was 99 talking in Spanish, when we were left far behind in the water from the group, he neither came back to help us speed up or even spoke or shouted to check for our presence. My wife finally had to shout to request him to slow down. While we were struggling to kayak, instead of coming by to assist us, he was passing some comments in Spanish that we didn't understand of course but we did get a sense that he is making fun of us since group was laughing every time he did that. One of the girl in the group was nice and was helping us to stay with the group and with kayaking. The guide was noticing all of this but He did NOTHING. It was terrible terrible experience and he was the reason for it. PLEASE DO NOT GO FOR THIS COMPANY. You will end up with bad experience.
The booking effort was easy and the voucher was delivered electronically for the event. The problem we had was that the actual operating company was not listed on the voucher and with about a dozen kayak companies meeting in the same place - it made us asked around to determine it was Blue Waters Adventure. All turned out great.
The experience of the Bio Bay was great!!!! But tour was only 1 hour not 90 minutes with 30 minutes of that driving to and from parking lot. Guides were not very friendly and felt like it was a race to keep up with guide on kayak. Also, after tour the driver just dropped us off in dark parking lot and left after telling him we had to wait for a cab.
The best time to do this tour is in complete darkness/cloudy night. We had trouble seeing it light up with a crescent moon. The guides were very knowledgeable about the bay and also pointed out constellations since it was so clear and bright that night. They had an umbrella with them to shield the moonlight to see the glow a lot better. Did get to see the southern cross which we don't see in the Midwest. A few suggestions for people taking this tour....taxi service is horrible on the island so please rent a car to have more fun to explore and the parking lot were you meet the tour has only one parking light on which makes this a very unsafe location at night. The tour van was there 30 minutes before the official time of meeting which was very good and he also gave us a ride back to our Inn after the tour. I would suggest making travel arrangements with the tour to pick you up and drop you off at your hotel, due to horrible taxi service on the island.
We had a wonderful experience that I would recommend, however this tour is advertised as 90min and we only received 60min. We went out on the early tour and it wasn't quite dark enough at first but before long the waters lit up when you swished it. The stars were bright, the water was warm and the mosquitoes were not around when we went. Tour guide was fun and knowledgeable.
A truly unique experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable as well as entertaining. A few tips- the less moon, the brighter the bio bay will be. I would make sure to have dependable transportation pre-arranged. Our taxi did not show up and we had a last minute scramble to get there.
First off, we were told to be at Sun bay at 6:15pm. We arrive at 6:00pm and drove around in a panic until 6:30 when the trip was actually supposed to start. We called all the numbers provided on the voucher and left voicemails and never received any calls back even after the trip. The van finally arrive around 6:30 and the driver didn't say anything about being late and spent about 10 minutes on the phone before telling us to get in the van..
Once we got there, the guide spoke extremely fast and was in a huge hurry. We were constantly asked to try and go faster on the Kayak. The entire experience felt extremely rushed and unenjoyable. The tour guide spent time telling us about the stars and some information about the organisms in the water along with some very corny jokes. It wasn't until we were heading back that we began to see the glow in the water.
I feel that we were ripped off due to them being late and tryin to make up time. The entire experience was extremely rush, disorganized and unenjoyable. We actually stayed in Vieques for the night as suggested for this experience and feel completely cheated! I would not recommend this tour to anyone!
