Home to a colonial-era hill station, the monsoon forests of Bach Ma National Park center on Bach Ma, or White Horse Mountain, which rises 4,757 feet (1,450 meters). Waterfalls, crumbling villas, hiking trails, and a wealth of wildlife, including pheasants, langur monkeys, and muntjac deer, make a magnetic spot to spend a day—or longer.
The Hai Vong Dai viewpoint atop Bach Ma offers vistas across tens of thousands of acres of forest to pristine ocean. Join one of the many tours that stop here. You can visit Bach Ma National Park on a day trip from Hue, Da Nang, or Hoi An. Or, spend the night in the park, either camping or staying in a converted villa. Overnight tours are a great choice to experience the park’s spectacular bird life.

How to Get There
Bach Ma National Park is about a 30-mile (48-kilometer) drive southeast of Hue, a 40-mile (65-kilometer) drive northwest of Da Nang, and around 60 miles (95 kilometers) from Hoi An. Public buses don’t serve the route, and motorbikes aren’t allowed on the summit road, so it's easiest to book an organized tour.
When to Get There
April, May, and June are a great time to visit Bach Ma National Park, when the weather is warm and mainly dry but not too hot. Some travelers might find July and August uncomfortably hot and humid even at higher elevations, while rain can obscure the views from September through December.
