Via della Spiga Tours

Milan’s Fashion Quarter is home to a handful of luxury shopping streets including Via della Spiga. This is where locals come to buy their designer clothes from brands such as Roberto Cavalli, Hermes, Moschino, and Armani. The chic fashion street is also home to a number of upscale dining options, cocktail bars, and cafés.
The Basics
Before the 1960s, Via della Spiga was a meeting place for the educated and artistic of Milanese society. As the area became wealthier, high-end brands started to make the street their base and transformed it into a luxe fashion hub. Tours to Via della Spiga are generally focused on the high-fashion industry and lead visitors around the creative window displays with a private tour guide. For those who want a closer look at the latest haute couture, personal shopping tours are also available.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Via della Spiga is a must-visit for fashionistas.
- The streets are pedestrianized and cobblestoned, so wear comfortable shoes for walking on the uneven surfaces.
- While the terrain is relatively flat, wheelchair users may find it slightly difficult to navigate the cobblestoned streets.
How to Get There
Via della Spiga runs parallel to the famous Via Montenapoleone in Milan’s historic city center, about a 15-minute walk from the Duomo (Milan Cathedral). Take the M3 yellow metro line to Montenapoleone station or the M1 red metro line to San Babila station and walk about five minutes to the pedestrianized street.
When to Get There
Milan is busiest during the summer, from June to September. The best time to visit is during April, May, September, and October, when the weather is pleasant. Milan Fashion Week, in February and September, is an exciting time to walk along Via della Spiga and discover the latest looks.
Milan’s Fashion District
The Fashion Quarter in the northeastern section of Milan’s city center is comprised of the world-famous Via Montenapoleone, Via Manzoni, and Via della Spiga. This area is the city’s main shopping destination for designer clothing and jewelry, or for those who simply want to admire the high-fashion boutiques’ beautiful window displays. The district lies just below the upscale Brera neighborhood and to the east of the famous Duomo.
