Dennis the Menace Park Tours and Activities

Good fun for kids of all ages, Dennis the Menace Park is so named as it was deigned by Hank Ketchum, creator of the famously naughty comic strip character, who lived in nearby Pebble Beach. You can take your kids here to burn off some energy before visiting the more sober of Monterey’s attractions, and run around like a kid yourself – you won’t be the only one.

The playground is choc-full of activities including climbing structures (separated by age group), speedy slides, swings, a maze, climbing wall and suspension bridge. There is even a statue of the Menace himself to pose for photographs with. Park equipment is well maintained; there are plenty of seating areas to take a breather and best of all it is free to enter.

Monterey Bay Audio Driving Tour: From Del Monte Beach to Cannery Row

Monterey Bay Audio Driving Tour: From Del Monte Beach to Cannery Row

This self guided audio tour of Monterey I take friends and family on, when they come to visit. Monterey’s story is as beautiful as its scenery. When European explorer Juan Cabrillo first laid eyes on the bay 500 years ago, he was astounded by it, and he wrote such a glowing description that other explorers followed. Eventually, Monterey became a city. Whether this is your first time here or you visit the Peninsula regularly – and even if you live here – you’ll discover something new on this tour of California’s second oldest city. After all, there are more historical buildings in Monterey than any other city west of Santa Fe, New Mexico. You’ll see both sides of Fisherman’s Wharf, take in the actual locations in John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row and end the tour at the Monterey’s most visited attraction, The Aquarium.
