The Basics

One of the best ways to see the Seine is to walk along it, particularly on the central stretch from Les Invalides to Ile Saint-Louis. There, zigzag across the river on the Pont Alexandre III, Pont Royal, and Pont des Arts to see some of the most elegant and well-known architecture in France.

Alternatively, a Seine River cruise allows you to rest your legs and admire the same sights; book a brunch, lunch, or dinner cruise to combine your sightseeing with a French meal or opt for an Eiffel Tower combo to enjoy two of Paris’ most popular activities in one tour.

Bateaux Parisiens Seine River Gourmet Dinner & Sightseeing Cruise
My family of four took this dinner cruise for my daughter's 18th birthday. The boat was beautiful, clean, spacious . The live music was fantastic, BEAUTIFUL views of Paris and arrived back to our port at the base of the Eiffel Tour just as the sparking lights began ( 11:00). The food wasn't the best but the presentation was nice, waitstaff friendly,

Paris Seine River Gourmet Dinner Cruise with Champagne Exclusive Viator
My 3 friends and I really enjoyed our early evening cruise on the River Seine. The food was great and it is a lovely way to see the sights of Paris in a relaxing way whilst enjoying good company. I thought there would be some sort of commentary or pointing out the main sights as we sailed past, but there wasn’t, which was a little disappointing.

It was really romantic for me and my partner. The setting was really clean, well maintained and stylish. We were greeted by the friendly staff, the service wasn't to be faulted - always on tap with top ups of wine! We ended up eating 3 rolls of bread in the end that the waiter offered generously. The food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing! The famous stops were great to look at too and fascinating. Thank you

Champagne Tasting on a Seine River Cruise
Loves the champagne tour! Got VIP seating, the three tastings were delicious, our guide shared fun facts about the champagne as well as the sights all around us. Felt like a totally different experience than the rest of the boat. Could not really hear the loudspeaker but that didn’t matter at all. Beautiful sights and good pace.

When to Get There

For a tranquil walk, head to the river in the early morning hours before most of the crowds and commuters arrive; or, go for an after-dinner stroll to take in the reflections of the City of Light on the water.

Exploring Canal Saint-Martin

In northeast Paris, the Canal Saint-Martin district is home to smaller waterways where footbridges and trendy locals replace the Seine’s traffic and tourists. Enjoy a more laid-back atmosphere and watch boats on the locks with a wander along the tree-shaded paths.
