A luxury car and your English speaking Bhutanese guide will pick you up from your hotel at around 8 - 8:30 in the morning and you will drive for a few minutes across the Paro Valley till you reach the base of the mountain. Taktsang Monastery is about three hours climb uphill from the base and if you are not up to the hike then we there will be riding ponies already arranged. Tea and snacks will be arranged at a cafeteria mid way. Visit the various temples housing very sacred statues and relics as your guide explains the significance of it all. It is believed that a visit to a scared Monastery will cleanse you of your sins and will bless you for a happy, peaceful and productive life. Bhutan is home to many species of birds that are in danger of extinction, including the Imperial Heron, which is one of the fifty rarest birds in the world and the rare Black-Necked Crane, which breeds in Tibet and then migrates over the Himalayas to Bhutan during the winter months. The Cranes can be spotted in Phobjikha Valley in Western Bhutan, Bumthang in Central Bhutan and 43 in Bomdeling in Eastern Bhutan. They migrate to these winter roosting sites in the months of September and October and fly back to Tibet between February and March.
