We leave Sibiu towards Balea Waterfall, the starting point of our hiking tour. At this point we leave the car, take our backpacks and start the hiking adventure exploring a small part of Carpathians; Fagaras Mountain Range. Just one hour of trekking through the forest and we stop to admire Balea Waterfall, one of the highest in Romania, a spectacular 60 m high. We continue our trekking tour and once we reach Balea Valley the trail will go along the famous road of Romania - Transfagarasan. After 4 or 5 hours of trekking we reach 2030 m where Balea Lake is located. From here you will take stunning pictures with this magnificent surroundings. Balea Lake is one of the most beautiful and largest lakes in Romania.

This eleven day tour begins in Sibiu, the "capital" of Transylvania. As we embark on our road trip throughout Transylvania we will visit a fairy-tale castle, several fortified and wooden churches, immerse ourselves in a rural Roma (gypsy) village, spend two nights in the rural north Maramures region of Romania visiting the unusual Merry Cemetery and also a communist prison, several UNESCO World Heritage sites, and walking tours. Each night's lodging is in a quaint city centre boutique hotel or a rustic rural inn. We'll take a first-class night train (which you will love or hate!) to Bucharest, Romania's capital. Our final full day we travel by subway and bus to learn about the Ruth School in the Ferentari neighborhood. The afternoon is free to explore Bucharest - making it a memorable day.
