  • 8-hour Summer Palace and Badaling Great Wall trip from Beijing
  • Visit the 18th-century Summer Palace, the garden retreat of China’s emperors
  • Stroll by Kunming Lake, seeing bridges, pavilions, and halls
  • Savor lunch at a Chinese restaurant and visit a jade factory
  • Hike or ride a cable car (own expense) up to the Badaling wall
  • Walk along the battlements and admire the watchtowers and stunning views
  • Round-trip coach travel, entrance fees, and central hotel pickup and drop-off included
After pickup at your central Beijing hotel, travel by climate-controlled coach to the UNESCO-protected Summer Palace, China’s best-preserved surviving imperial garden.

Learn how this 18th-century ensemble was a summertime retreat for China’s emperors for 300 years, and stroll the shores of the central Kunming Lake, seeing pavilions, bridges, and temples.

Next, visit a jade workshop to watch artisans carving this precious stone, and browse and perhaps purchase some pieces (own expense) at the factory outlet.

After lunch at a Chinese restaurant, continue to the Badaling section of the Great Wall, China’s most celebrated landmark. The most visited of the sections, Badaling dates from the 16th century, and was restored in 1957. It’s famous for its majestic battlements and watchtowers, high and steep in places, and stunning hill views.

On arrival, opt to hike or ride the cable car (own expense) up to the top. Then, stretch your legs along the ramparts, where the walkway was built wide enough to accommodate five horses abreast.

Descend by foot or cable car (own expense), and return to Beijing. Visit a traditional Chinese pharmacy on route to discover its natural remedies and enjoy a foot massage before ending your trip with a hotel drop-off.

Great tour, especially for the price...

Great tour, especially for the price. Only 13 people so felt like a private tour. Tour guide spoke good English and was great (most Chinese do not speak English). Recommend removing the last stop at the reflexology for foot massage as everyone was tired and not a pleasant environment.

The guide was not explaining anything...
Carlos T

The guide was not explaining anything about the sites, always running, not enough time for visiting the great wall and very light walk on the summer palace of course you have 40 minutes on Jade Store and later a visit to Tea gallery. I aborted this tour as it was not at all what I expected. Please DO NOT TAKE this tour.
