Buenos Aires Sightseeing Tour (Morning)

Retiro, one of the city's most populous neighborhoods, will be your first stop on your sightseeing tour. Your coach will pass by many of Buenos Aires' famous landmarks, with historical and cultural commentary from your guide. On the way to Teatro Colón, the city's famous opera house, see the Metropolitan Cathedral and the town hall, or Cabildo. Visit the famous Plaza de la República and the Obelisco de Buenos Aires (Obelisk of Buenos Aires.) Stop at Casa Rosada, the Argentine presidential office in Plaza de Mayo, and snap some photos of its famous pink exterior.

San Telmo is your next stop, and on the way there you'll pass through Puerto Madero, one of Buenos Aires' oldest neighborhoods that sits right on the water. Colonial architecture abounds around Dorrego Square, which is known to host spontaneous tango performances almost daily. La Boca, a historically Italian neighborhood, features brightly painted buildings on its main thoroughfare. Disembark and stroll some pedestrian streets in the area; maybe even purchase some wares from local artisans and artists. Hop back on the coach, passing through the Palermo neighborhood and Palermo Woods. End your tour in Recoleta, famed for its mansions and the fascinating Recoleta Cemetery.

Tango Show with Dinner (Evening):

Enjoy Argentina's passionate, vibrant national pastime while you dine on elegant Argentinian and international cuisine. Accompanied by a varied selection of unlimited wine, this dinner and professional tango show is truly a feast for the senses at your choice to two tango clubs.

Tango Option 1: Café de los Angelitos

This club has over a century of experience bringing tango to the public. The tango show will teach diners the history and passion of the tango while enjoying exceptional food and wine.

Tango Option 2: Tango Porteño

A throwback to Argentine tango's golden era, this 1940s–themed club recreates the magic and ambiance of Buenos Aires during that era. Accompanied by enticing food and drink, the tango show features music from some of the great orchestras of the time like Piassolla and Pugliesse.

Itinerary

Tango Option 1: Café de los Angelitos

With more than 100 years exhibiting tango shows in Buenos Aires, Café de los Angelitos remains at the forefront of Argentine tango. Each night at this tango house, 21 distinguished artists enter the stage and take you through the history and passion of tango in an elegant way. You’ll enjoy exceptional service as you wine and dine while watching this riveting performance.

Tango Option 2: Tango PorteñoTango Porteño delivers you to the 1940s – the ‘golden age of Argentine tango’ – when it was performed on just about every corner of Buenos Aires. This venue recreates the ambiance and costumes reminiscent of the magical decade when the great orchestras – from Piazzolla to Pugliesse – challenged one another at the ballrooms of Chanteclair, Marabú, Tabarís and many others!

The city tour stops we ok but the tour guide had to speak Spanish and English. It wasted as lot if time and we felt we did not learn as much about Buenos Aires. We felt we were pretty much on our own.

Beware of tours not ending at Tango

Bus tour is poorly organized and executed. All the stops were the same as cruise ship tours and were constricted. Vendor areas were typical. Tango club dinner and show was great. Vehicle was on time and outfront. Food was good and show fabulous.

City Tour and Tango at Cafe de los Angelitos

The tour is only worth 2 stars because you are stuck on the bus for most of it. It is comfortable and air conditioned but there are not enough stops and the tour guide spoke way too quickly. She had to translate into 3 languages as we drove by each site, and she tried hard but the group should have been divided so that she only had to repeat on 2 languages. The tango show was very nice. Yes, it’s a tourist trap, but it’s still beautiful. And the dinner was good for the price.

Good but transport caused worry

The city tour was OK but could easily have included other attractions. The Tango show and dinner were superb, but the company provided conflicting advice about pick up and drop off, and could not be contacted by phone when we needed to speak with them. Our driver dropped us at the theatre with not a single word about where to go or where to meet

Tango show was excellent with lovely dinner. City trip was okay, could be better. The guide dropped us far away from the hotel. This was not mentioned earlier.

A flavor of the city, the food, and the TANGO!!!!

We did not quite realize that this involved two separate "tours"...by two different transportation companies. We thought maybe we would be out all day on the tour and then go to the dinner/tango show. It turned out we returned to our hotel room by around 2pm, and then set out again by around 8:30pm that same night with a different company coming to our hotel. We did not get back to the hotel room until after midnight (if that is a consideration for your timing and trip). BUT that all being said, the city tour was great. We heard a lot about many different sites. The tour guide spoke in both Spanish and English fairly quickly, so no one missed any of the dialogue. Later, the Tango dinner show was at Cafe de Los Angelitos, and it was awesome. Dinner was very good, with an appetizer, main course, and dessert, and all the Malbec wine we could sock away. Finally had to put our napkins on top of the glasses to get them to stop refilling. The show was stupendous. The orchestra sat up on the balcony high above the dancers, and featured an accordion player who was outstanding. The piano man was also outstanding, as well as the other instruments being played. We would highly recommend this tour as a good choice to get the flavor of the city during the day, and then the flavor of the food and tango later the same night. Evidently they do this tango/dinner show at different places around the city, so ask when you book if you can be placed into the Angelitos location. It was great.

the city tour was ok. it was only half a day. the Tango Dinner show was average, nothing special. we had an issue with our table. they gave us the worse table and when we disputed they were not cooperative. We finally had to get the manager. Language barrier was another issue. no one spoke English and they could not understand what we were asking. Finally, with our broken Spanish we got through and they changed our table.

Buenos Aires Super Saver: City Sightseeing Tour and Tango Dinner Show

This tour was in two parts - a City Tour in the morning and a Tango Show in the evening. The city tour was okay in that we went to many of the the key city sites and points of interest but the young lady who gave the commentary spoke too fast and switched from Spanish to English too quickly to follow for any length of time. The result was that most of us gave up trying to listen and just took in the views as we went along. Also, although the tickets said in the small print that we would be dropped off at central points in the city rather than being dropped of back at our hotel, we were dropped off at a point that was a long way from our hotel with no real help or information on how to get back. The commentator's advice was to take a taxi but without previous experience of taxi's in the Buenos Aires we were a bit reluctant to do this. Fortunately, we had a map and after a few minutes of correctly locating ourselves on it were able to walk back to our hotel, although this took about 45 minutes and I would not recommend it for people with mobility issues. This was the major downside to this part of the tour. By contrast, the Tango Show in the evening at the Cafe de Los Angelitos was excellent. The dancers and singers were superb and the food was top class - highly recommended. I have only given this tour a three star rating because of the commentary and drop situation for the city tour in the morning. However, I would give the Tango Show 5 starts plus. We were continuing on a cruise from Buenos Aires and we later found that one lady on the cruise had her gold necklace snatched from her neck and another had her mobile phone taken during their time in Buenos Aires. We didn't see anything like that and, in general, thought that it was a very nice city, especially the Recoleta part where our hotel was located.
